Full Job Description
THE POSITION

Keyera is currently seeking a Shift Team Lead - Relief for our Sarnia Fractionation Facility in Sarnia, Ontario. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, this role provides shift leadership coverage during vacations, training, and other planned absences while supporting the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of one of Canada's largest NGL fractionation facilities.

This position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, including days and nights, on a 3-on/3-off rotation.

Responsibilities
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, performance management, succession planning, and employee development for a team of operators while fostering a culture of accountability, operational discipline, continuous improvement, and safety.
  • Ensure facility operations are conducted safely and in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, including ECA, TSSA, CER, MOL, ESA, LRB, Process Safety Management (PSM), the Operations Management System (OMS), HAZOPs, MOCs, CAMP, and site safe work practices, including SSOPs, JHAs, ATWs, and P&IDs.
  • Oversee daily facility operations to safely meet production, quality, commercial, and customer commitments across the fractionation facility, rail loading, truck loading, and associated pipeline systems.
  • Monitor plant performance, DCS/SCADA alarms, operator KPIs, equipment health, production schedules, and control loop performance to maximize throughput, equipment reliability, and energy efficiency while managing deficiencies through Maximo.
  • Coordinate maintenance priorities, equipment outages, work permits, shutdowns, and turnaround activities while collaborating with Operations, Mechanical, I&E, Planning & Scheduling, Engineering, and Commercial teams to communicate operational constraints, production priorities, and business needs.
  • Ensure routine operating rounds, preventative maintenance activities, inspections, safety systems, overpressure protection, and Pressure Equipment Integrity requirements are completed and maintained in accordance with site standards.
  • Lead environmental, safety, and operational incident investigations, regulatory reporting, corrective actions, emergency response activities, and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support safe, compliant operations.
  • Support annual operating plans, departmental budgets, contractor oversight, resource planning, and facility turnarounds to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and within approved budgets.
  • Participate in management, production, planning, and engineering meetings while ensuring key decisions, operational priorities, and business updates are effectively communicated across the shift teams.

Qualifications
  • 5-10 years of industrial operations experience within the oil and gas, petrochemical, NGL, chemical processing, refining, mining, or related industrial sectors.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience leading operations teams is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Process Safety Management (PSM), Operational Management Systems (OMS), regulatory compliance, maintenance work management, and safe work permitting practices within an industrial operating environment.
  • Experience supporting plant operations, maintenance coordination, turnarounds, outages, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Power Engineering certification, Journeyperson Trade certification, or equivalent technical experience is considered an asset.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS/Maximo), is considered an asset.
  • Successful candidates must be able to meet all pre-employment requirements, including reference, background, medical, and drug and alcohol testing, in accordance with Keyera policies.
