About the roleThe Fuel Operations Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of fuel plant activities during assigned shifts, with a primary focus on evening operations. This role oversees fuel-side operations and assigned personnel while supporting shredder and tipping floor production objectives. The Fuel Operations Supervisor works closely with operations and maintenance teams to ensure reliable plant performance during normal operations as well as planned and unplanned downtime.
This position reports to the Fuel Superintendent and Operations Superintendent, with the Shift Supervisor retaining ultimate decision-making authority regarding overall operational priorities.
Based on business needs and staffing levels at the time of hire, this role will work a rotating schedule that includes nights and days to support a seven-day operation, following successful completion of required training.
Note that this position is open to a sign-on bonus.Key Responsibilities- Review daily production goals, fuel-side conditions, and operating schedules
- Conduct routine plant rounds to monitor shredders and associated equipment for safe and efficient operation
- Manage fuel quality to ensure compliance with plant and operational requirements
- Ensure fuel-side operations are performed in accordance with company policies, procedures, and best practices
- Serve as Fuel Control Line Authority (CLA) and prepare Work Clearance Permits
- Collaborate with the Shift Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Fuel Superintendent, and Operations Superintendent to align on daily operational priorities
- Oversee housekeeping activities, shredder hammer turns, and hammer changes
- Monitor shift relief transitions to ensure continuity of operations
- Review service requests prior to entry and execution
- Review operator logs for accuracy, completeness, and operational insight
- Utilize the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) to review equipment history and manage corrective and preventive maintenance work orders
- Lead daily safety meetings with assigned shift personnel
- Conduct operator training and support workforce development initiatives
- Supervise rail tipper operations, tipping floor operations, shredding operations, maintenance activities, and metals processing
Supervisory Responsibilities- Directly supervise approximately 7 to 14 employees
- Plan, assign, and direct daily work activities to meet operational priorities
- Provide training, coaching, and performance feedback to assigned personnel
- Evaluate employee performance and administer recognition or corrective action as appropriate
- Address employee concerns and resolve operational or personnel issues in accordance with company policy and applicable regulations

Position Requirements- High School Diploma or G.E.D. from a State Department of Education-recognized institution
- Successful completion of facility Qualifying Standards for Operations Fuel Supervisor and all required technical training
- Ability to read, understand, and apply company safety programs and procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, Confined Space, and Hot Work
- Ability to interpret process flow diagrams, blueprints, technical manuals, and written and verbal instructions
- Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and lead frontline teams
- Working knowledge of maintenance management systems for scheduling preventive maintenance, submitting work orders, and managing equipment history
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred
Other Duties- Perform the duties of other supervisory positions as needed to provide coverage during absences, vacations, or staffing needs

Pay ranges are reviewed from time to time and may be modified in the future.
The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $100,400.00 - $133,500.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
