Job Description

Under moderate direction implements, monitors and builds awareness of the organizations safety, health and environmental standards. Serves as a contact for safety and environmental compliance efforts while serving as the technical expert. Position is responsible for implementing and accessing the regional Safety, Health and Environmental compliance efforts and contributing to strengthening ergonomic programs that guide manufacturing, engineering and ergonomic objectives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assess Safety & Environmental Performance data and tracks consolidated plant metrics.
  • Analyzes and tracks Workers' Compensation related data for the ergonomic trends.
  • Implements organizational safety, health and environmental standards to ensure a safe, healthy and environmentally compliant working environment.
  • Creates and executes regular inspection to ensure compliance to laws and DENSO standards at both the local and North American regional level.
  • Develops written reports detailing the compliance status of sites within the North American region.
  • Servers as a liaison for internal departments and outside agencies.
  • Partners with others on special projects as assigned by leadership
  • Ability to travel 25% - 50%.

Minimum Level of Education and Training Required
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services, Ergonomics /Human Factor, Environmental Engineering or Occupational Health and Safety or related degree with 3 or more years of relevant experience, or combination of education and experience.

Certification is desired, not required such as CSP, CIH, ASP, CFPS, CHMM

Minimum Level of Knowledge and Skills Required
  • Practical technical knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental policies, procedures, and terms, including knowledge of legal issues and terminology related to Safety, Health and Environment.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and presentation skills.
  • Ability to negotiate and provide input and recommendations both internally and externally.
  • Ability to coordinate and monitor a high level of activity as demonstrated under a variety of conditions and constraints.
  • Ability to comprehend complex instructions and respond effectively and perform basic arithmetic accurately and quickly.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including a rotation through the team of being on-call 24 hours per day for a week at a time.
  • Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, and fingers rapidly and accurately and handle precise movements.
  • Knowledge of appropriate office software applications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

Annual Salary: $84,000 - $104,000

Typically, the position exerts up to 33 pounds of force and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move an inanimate object. Visual requirements include color, depth perception and field of vision. Position work environment is typically indoors in pleasant, well-lighted area with comfortable temperatures and in a controlled environment where no significant amounts of dust, fumes or odors. Unavoidable accidents and health hazards are unlikely.

• Ensures compliance with general organization wide and department specific ISO/TS 16949 requirements.
• Participates in and supports environmental ISO 14001 and safety ISO 45001 activities by developing supporting goals and objectives, attending required training, complying with established procedures and initiating and implementing corrective actions, as needed.
