What you'll be doing:- Partner with operations leaders and safety teams to implement and continuously improve Savage's S7 safety system across multiple sites.
- Lead SH&E programs that promote a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture and regulatory compliance.
- Develop, deliver, and validate safety, environmental, and regulatory training for team members and leaders.
- Ensure compliance with MSHA, OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable regulations, including required permits, reporting, and documentation.
- Conduct safety inspections, observations, audits, and field engagements to identify risks and drive continuous improvement.
- Lead incident reporting, investigations, and root cause analyses, ensuring timely corrective actions are implemented.
- Collaborate with customers and operations teams to support customer-specific safety initiatives and audit requirements.
- Support business growth through the safe startup of new operations, products, and processes.
- Monitor leading safety indicators and trends to proactively address risks and improve performance.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and development for SH&E team members, building organizational capability and bench strength.
- Partner across operations to share best practices and provide SH&E support where needed.
Requirements to be successful in this position:- Bachelor's Degree in Safety or a related field is preferred
- 3+ years' experience in a safety leadership role and working in the transportation or mining sectors
- Hold a safety certification recognized by an accredited organization or be able to obtain certification within the first 18 months. Examples include CSP, SMS, OHST, or CET.
- Strong working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Proven ability to analyze risk, solve problems, make sound decisions, and drive compliance in industrial, transportation, mining, or similar operational environments.
- Effective leadership, communication, training, and coaching skills, with the ability to influence all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated integrity, professionalism, accountability, and ownership, with a commitment to safety, respect, and continuous improvement.
- Ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments while maintaining attention to detail and operational excellence.
Here are some of the physical requirements for this role:- Up to 40% travel required
- Climb ladders, racks, and tanks
- Walk on uneven surfaces
- Work indoors in an office environment, as well as outdoors in changing weather conditions
- Willing to always wear appropriate PPE when needed and set the example
