Service Technician 3
We are looking for a Service Technician for our Amherst, NY facility. The Service Technician level 3 will play a key leadership role in directing and improving the performance of equipment that directly impacts the overall production output within a facility. The core mission in this role will be centered around these efforts while working within the production facility daily. The individual will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Plant Manager to ensure all service-related task are performed, documented, and scheduled so all maintenance tasks are routinely completed on time. The individual will also assist with supervising the work of others while providing mentoring and coaching tips to teammates along the way. The Service Technician will not only be expected to lead the facility's efforts, but to also be able to personally perform all maintenance as defined in our manuals and per our standards. The Service Technician will directly report to the Plant Manager with a dotted line to the Operations and Regional Management.
Your Responsibilities:
• Hold daily meetings with production staff to ensure all preventative maintenance is being performed on time (Based on MES).
• Perform and document the preventive maintenance on all equipment within the facility according to standard process.
• Provide emergency equipment repairs to keep production always running.
• Comply with all equipment standards set in place by the equipment manufacturers.
• Check the equipment for shutdowns and process interruptions and create an action plan to resolve the issues.
• Make sure equipment reliability is within target and data is always up to date on the server.
• Plan, purchase and maintain proper inventory levels required to minimize downtime, yet control inventory dollars as required. This will include an annual inventory count.
• Ensure safety measures are met, technicians are practicing safe work habits.
• Keep a clean, well-organized work area, including power alleys, support systems and equipment.
• Provide training for coating technicians in areas such as load building, batch-to-batch exchanges, and 80-batch maintenance.
• Exhibits a sense of urgency in their daily activities when the equipment within their facility is not capable of running production.
• Responsible for the completion of Technical Directives and communication of Technical Information within their facility.
• Participate as a key member of the management team within the production facility Employee List If Applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor/Management as required to assure customer satisfaction.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assists the development of an internal inventory management process for production at their facility.
• Assists in the installation of equipment, retrofits, and BTS directives within their facility.
• Supports the Production Technology Department with projects within their facility.
• Communicate effectively with Plant Management.
• Additional service-related building projects in the facility.
• Familiarize with key KPIs of the service department.
Your Profile:
• 2-year degree (AA) and/or relevant industry certification in an electro-mechanical discipline. Equivalent experience may be a substitute.
• 2+ years' experience working with HVAC, vacuum technology, automotive, and/or industrial equipment repair.
• Experience interpreting various mechanical and electrical schematics along with the ability to troubleshoot equipment using schematics.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• A positive attitude and willingness to work overtime when required.
• Individuals must be accessible 24 hours a day to respond to service emergencies that's a result of equipment failures.
• Individuals must be detailed-oriented with a strong work-ethic and have a sense of urgency to be successful.
• Must be comfortable working with hands and be able to lift, stack, push, pull and/or move items weighing up to 44 pounds.

Some positions within Oerlikon may also offer eligibility to participate in a discretionary incentive program. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for the role will be based on a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, internal equity, job location, work experience, education, training, certifications, licenses, etc. Therefore, as compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each individual, it is likely that not all applicants will be hired at the highest end of the listed compensation range. Our total compensation package goes beyond base compensation and it will include a competitive benefits package starting with 2 weeks paid time off accrued on a monthly basis, 12 holidays, 48 hours personal/sick time (exception for NY where we follow State law,) medical, dental, vision, 401K, holidays, pet insurance and tuition reimbursement all effective day one of hire.
