Position Title: Service Supervisor
Take ownership of a hands-on service operation where your leadership, mechanical knowledge, and ability to solve problems will have a direct impact every day. An established equipment manufacturer in the greater Boston area is seeking a Service Supervisor to oversee daily service operations, lead a team of six technicians, and serve as a key connection between customers, management, and the shop floor. This role combines team leadership with hands-on equipment troubleshooting, customer service, repair coordination, and final equipment testing.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in heavy or mechanical equipment, understands how a busy shop operates, and can confidently shift between leading technicians, solving equipment issues, and communicating with customers. Reliability, organization, and strong communication are essential for success in this role.
Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 / Year, DOE
Responsibilities - Oversee daily service department operations and supervise a team of six technicians
- Assign repair work, coordinate technician priorities, and ensure service jobs are completed accurately and efficiently
- Schedule customer repairs and respond to service calls, equipment concerns, and ongoing support needs
- Diagnose mechanical and hydraulic equipment issues and assist technicians with troubleshooting
- Operate and test equipment to identify issues and verify repairs are complete before customer delivery
- Coordinate with production on final preparation, testing and delivery of new equipment
- Prepare repair work orders, assign required materials, and work with purchasing to maintain appropriate shop supply levels
- Manage changing priorities between scheduled repairs, incoming service needs, and new equipment deliveries
Requirements - 5-10 years of experience working with heavy equipment, mechanical equipment, or a related service environment
- Strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge
- CDL Class B or ability and willingness to obtain one with company support
- Comfortable operating and testing large equipment, including working at heights when required
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and email
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with customers, technicians and management
- Dependable, punctual, and prepared to lead the team at the start of each workday
Preferred Qualifications - Previous shop experience strongly preferred
- Supervisory experience preferred, though candidates with strong leadership potential will be considered
- Hydraulic vehicle maintenance experience is a plus
- College degree is a plus but not required
