Responsibilities

  • Manage the performance and development of Service department staff.
  • Collaborate with HR on labor-related and sensitive personnel matters.
  • Lead or support LEAN initiatives for continuous improvement.
  • Oversee Service fleet management, including vehicle purchasing and maintenance.
  • Conduct regular toolbox meetings with Parts and Service teams.
  • Partner with other business units to enhance customer accounts and pursue new revenue streams.
  • Address customer service issues and manage disputes.
  • Monitor Key Performance Indicators for the Service department.
  • Analyze financial statements to enhance department profitability.
  • Promote compliance with corporate safety initiatives and policies.

The Opportunity

Leavitt Machinery is looking for a Service Manager to join our team in Edmonton, Alberta. As the Service Manager, you will be responsible for managing the performance of the local Service department and team.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Service Manager your key responsibilities will include:
  • Manage the performance and development of the Service department staff, including driving accountability of the team members, staffing the department appropriately, and facilitating proper training
  • Partner with the Human Resources department on labour related and sensitive personnel issues
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by leading or supporting LEAN initiatives, improving the overall efficiency of the department
  • Proactively manage the Service fleet as it relates to vehicle purchases, replacements, repairs and maintenance
  • Conduct weekly toolbox meetings with the local Parts and Service teams
  • Work in partnership with other Internal Business Units to develop and grow key customer accounts while generating new business and revenue streams
  • Actively addresses customer service issues and customer disputes
  • Closely manage Key Performance Indicators that relate to the Service department
  • Strategically analyze financial statements, utilizing them as a tool to drive the profitability of the department
  • Advocate and drive compliance on all corporate safety initiatives, policies, and programs

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:
  • 5 or more years of proven supervisory experience
  • Post-secondary education in sales, business, management, or a related discipline preferred
  • Mechanical knowledge of heavy machinery or materials handling equipment is considered an asset
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Superior skills in organization and planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Adept at managing conflicting priorities in parallel
  • Confident self-starter and team player
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma considered an asset

The base pay range for this role is: $90,000 to $110,000 per year, depending on experience, plus an annual bonus.

This is an onsite role based in Edmonton, AB.
