Job Summary

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms is seeking a professional, motivated and service-oriented individual for the regular full-time position of Sergeant.

Reporting to the Deputy Sergeant-at-Arms, the Sergeant oversees the day-to-day operations of the Special Provincial Constables (Constables) and Safety Officers, ensuring effective coordination of security operations and all security and policing standards are implemented and maintained. This role serves as a key conduit for issue resolution involving the public, staff, management, and Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLA).

Applicants must be/have:
  • At least five years of policing experience from a Commonwealth jurisdiction within the last three years.
  • Supervisory experience.
  • Experience interacting with people under difficult or stressful circumstances.
