Job Description:The Senior level z/OS Systems Programmer plans, implements, maintains, and provides technical guidance for product installation, upgrades, and application of maintenance to include IBM Mainframe z/OS and third-party software and utilities. The role is primarily responsible for installation and maintenance for Broadcom Mainframe Software and associated customer home-grown systems.
This role delivers full time to a government agency. The ideal candidate will have experience delivering in a remote/office environment as a client-facing technician in a staff augmentation role for a service provider to government agency partners. Off-hours support for new product maintenance applications is required to support changes made in the environment.
Work Experience:
#x25CF; 5+ yearsexperience as a z/OS Systems Programmer installing and maintaining software.
#x25CF; Experience performing software installations using SMP/e and industry knowledge using z/OSMF for product installations.
#x25CF; Knowledge using Broadcom Mainframe Software is preferable such as CA Common Services, CA Gen, CA Endevor, CA Librarian, CA Datacom or equivalent. Ability to manage multiple Sysplexes with up to 60+ LPARs using these and other related products.
#x25CF; Experience supporting Broadcom Software and third-party products in support of Disaster Recovery testing.
#x25CF; Experience working for the government. DOD 8570 or 8140 computing environment certification such as CompTIA A+ is a mandated requirement for this position. CompTIA Security+ certification is a plus.
#x25CF; Active Security Clearance level of Secret is a mandated requirement for this position.
#x25CF; Ability to document test plans and package software changes with back-out plans and coordinate change control using Service Now or other related systems supported software lifecycle. Understanding of ITIL change process and working with government ITSM CAB organizations who approve change.
#x25CF; Ensure installed software products are compliant with the current mainframe operating system. Ensure new release and version analysis is performed in lower environments prior to being deployed to production.
#x25CF; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
#x25CF; Strong organizational skills; works well under pressure and with minimal supervision.
#x25CF; Ability to determine root cause analysis, interpret traces, open cases related to vendor software issues, respond to questions, issues, and concerns along with managing shifting priorities, demands, and timelines.
#x25CF; Ability to effectively drive execution and own responsibility for overall success of product installations and support off hours as needed.
#x25CF; Ability to make decisions independently and respond to client management questions related to z/OS operating systems, Broadcom mainframe technology, and associated third party software products.
#x25CF; Provide support and train, counsel and mentor government employees, junior technicians, and engineers within the teams.
#x25CF; Strong analytical and creative critical thinking skills.
#x25CF; Technical proficiency and customer-facing skills.
#x25CF; Generally works without consulting their manager.
Experience: Bachelors and 5+ years of related experience required.
Certification: CompTIA A+ or Security+ within the last 3 years.
Government Clearance: Security Clearance of Secret within the last 5 years.
Compensation and Benefits
The annual base salary range for this position is USD 90,000.00 To USD 144,000.00
