Full Job Description
About the role

As a Senior Vulnerability Management Engineer you will independently identify, assess, prioritize, and drive the remediation of vulnerabilities across applications, infrastructure, containers, Kubernetes environments, and third-party dependencies.

You will be expected to understand how vulnerable dependencies enter an application, determine whether they are direct or transitive, identify appropriate remediation options, and work with engineering teams to implement and validate fixes.

You will also own and enhance internal vulnerability-management tools, including the repositories, scheduled jobs, APIs, and reporting applications used to process and display vulnerability findings. The ideal candidate should be comfortable using approved AI tools, such as Claude, to accelerate development, investigation, documentation, and security automation while following company security and data-handling requirements.

What you'll do
  • Perform vulnerability assessments across applications, operating systems, containers, Kubernetes clusters, and third-party dependencies.
  • Investigate vulnerable dependencies, determine where they originate, and identify whether they are direct or transitive.
  • Recommend safe dependency upgrades, configuration changes, patches, or compensating controls.
  • Own and maintain the source-code repositories associated with internal vulnerability-management tools and reporting applications.
  • Integrate security tools with ticketing systems, repositories, dashboards, and reporting platforms through APIs and webhooks.
  • Use approved AI-assisted development tools to support coding, debugging, vulnerability research, remediation analysis, test creation, and documentation.
  • Identify false positives, duplicate findings, incorrect asset associations, and findings that lack sufficient context.
  • Partner with engineering and infrastructure teams to prioritize vulnerabilities based on exploitability, exposure, asset criticality, and business impact.
  • Develop dashboards and reports that communicate vulnerability risk, remediation progress, SLA performance, and program effectiveness.
  • Lead remediation initiatives and provide technical guidance to engineers and other security team members.

What you'll need
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in information security, vulnerability management, application security, security engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Strong understanding of CVE, CVSS, CWE, CISA KEV, EPSS, OWASP, and risk-based vulnerability prioritization.
  • Experience investigating vulnerable dependencies using build files, dependency trees, lock files, container images, and software-composition-analysis tools.
  • Ability to determine where a vulnerable package originates and recommend a safe, compatible remediation.
  • Hands-on experience operating vulnerability-management platforms such as Qualys or similar tools.
  • Experience with SAST, DAST, SCA, container-security, or infrastructure vulnerability-scanning tools.
  • Experience developing or maintaining reporting applications, dashboards, backend services, or data-processing workflows.
  • Familiarity with containers, Kubernetes workloads, Helm, CI/CD pipelines, configuration management, logging, monitoring, and secrets management.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming or scripting language, such as Python, Java, Go, or Bash.
  • Ability to independently manage technical initiatives involving multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications
  • Experience with cloud platforms and cloud-native services.
  • Experience with microservice architectures and Kubernetes-based applications.
  • Experience developing vulnerability-management automation and self-service security tools.
  • Knowledge of Java dependency-management systems such as Gradle or Maven, including transitive dependency analysis.
  • Ability to collaborate with engineering, infrastructure, business, compliance, and external vendor teams.

Nice to have
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or Engineering.
  • Practical experience deploying and troubleshooting applications in Kubernetes environments.
  • Relevant hands-on security certifications from Hack The Box, Offensive Security, or another recognized practical security-training provider.
  • Financial-services or other regulated-industry experience.
