Full Job Description
The Senior Vice President, Investor Relations and Capital Markets will partner with the Chief Financial Officer in the execution of Kilroy's overall Corporate Finance and Investor Relations Strategy. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, refining, and executing the investor relations strategy and programs to financial constituencies and company stakeholders. Combining the disciplines of finance and communications, the successful candidate will provide the investment community with an accurate portrayal of the company's strategy, performance, and prospects. Additional responsibilities include implementing capital markets and financial management strategies, corporate analysis, and strategic planning.

Investor Relations
  • Responsible for the development and execution of a strategic investor relations program including investor communication and outreach and the development of the company's external and internal messages.
  • Craft and communicate the company's messaging around financial results, strategy, growth opportunities and business initiatives to analysts and investors.
  • Develop and manage quarterly earnings process - materials preparation (conference call scripts, financial supplemental document, Q&A documents, investor presentations and other associated materials), the earnings call, sell-side and buy-side post-earnings calls, etc.
  • Develop and assist with investor targeting, including creating and updating institutional investor target lists and researching and maintaining profiles on existing investors and potential investors.
  • Plan and manage investor events including Investor Days, meetings, roadshows, property tours, and conferences.
  • Manage IR website and content; ensure all website content is up-to-date and recommend and implement enhancements.
  • Responsible for preparing and proper dissemination of all investor-related materials including quarterly investor presentations, news releases, annual reports, investor website, presentations and various other reports and investor collateral.

Capital Markets and Corporate Finance
  • Serve as a partner with the CFO for corporate analysis, including operational and financial portfolio and risk analysis as well as special analysis and reporting covering macroeconomic trends, portfolio quality/exposure, and the broader office environment.
  • Working directly with the CFO, assist in developing a strategic capital allocation and balance sheet strategy. Assist in executing the capital markets plan including the equity and unsecured debt transactions, bank credit facility, and secured mortgage transactions as well as managing rating agency relationships.
  • Analyze company financial results, relative sector performance, and valuation drivers as well as overall market and real estate trends, economic and financial data, and shareholder issues that could impact the company.
  • Serve as a resource to the leadership team on ad hoc projects including strategic initiatives.

Professional Attributes

Establishment of key relationships
  • 10 or more years of experience engaging with real estate investors and a strong history of creating positive relations with the investor community and equity research analysts. Real estate and public REIT experience is required.
  • Strong and enthusiastic relationship-builder and networker; pre-existing banking, sell-side and buy-side relationships will be viewed positively.

Superb written and verbal communications skills
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills, as well as the ability to draft engaging and impactful messages for inspiring investors and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to "think on your feet" and use sound judgment in communications to shareholders and investor communities. Knows how to read the room and respond appropriately and strategically.

Capital Markets Acumen
  • Knowledge and understanding of capital markets, as well as a thorough understanding of key metrics for companies in the industry.
  • A strong understanding of macroeconomics, capital markets trends, competitor activities, industry dynamics, and customer trends.

Excellent financial modeling skills with focus on company valuations
  • Intimately familiar with financial modeling techniques and valuation methods used by analysts and investors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple and complex analytical
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills; ability to take large volumes of complex information and present it in a clear and concise manner to senior management, shareholders and investor communities.

At Kilroy, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within the role. The base pay range for this role is between $300,000 and $350,000 and your base pay will depend on your skills, experience and training, knowledge, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. This role is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus as well.
