Full Job Description
Job Description:

Amplify is looking for a Senior User Researcher to lead and execute user research initiatives across Amplify's Literacy, Math, Science, and Platform product portfolio. As a member of an agile Market and User Research team, this colleague will work across multiple product areas and should be comfortable quickly building context on new products, domains, and stakeholders needs. The Senior User Researcher will serve as a strategic thought partner to Product, Design, Marketing, Sales, and other research teams, helping teams understand how educators and students interact with Amplify products and evaluate new features, workflows, and experiences. This role requires strong research expertise and judgment, including the ability to prioritize high-impact initiatives, make clear tradeoffs, and help partner teams focus on the research questions most likely to inform meaningful product and business decisions.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and passionate about building the best possible educational experiences for K-12 educators and students. This role will report to the Director of Marketing and User Research.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct end-to-end user research projects to improve Amplify products, and proactively identify research opportunities to inform product direction
  • Partner with other researchers, product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams (e.g., Data Science, Marketing, Sales) to identify key research questions and build alignment on business and research priorities
  • Conduct mixed methods research with K-12 educators and students, including user interviews, surveys, usability testing, prototype testing, focus groups, and classroom observations
  • Recruit, maintain, and expand a diverse panel of K-12 teachers, students, and administrators for user research
  • Translate qualitative and quantitative research findings into compelling, actionable insights that inform product strategy and drive measurable outcomes across stakeholders.
  • Advocate for a user-centered philosophy across all Amplify product experiences, embedding the voice of the user into decision-making at every stage of development.
  • Tailor research approaches and communication of findings to meet the needs of varied audiences, product contexts, and levels of technical complexity

How You Work...
  • You prioritize with purpose: You cut through competing priorities to focus on the questions with the highest impact and communicate your rationale to keep stakeholders aligned.
  • You show up as a partner, not just a practitioner: You are a thought partner to stakeholders long before a research project kicks off. You invest in relationships continuously, so when it matters most, your insights are heard and acted on.
  • You are a problem solver: When timelines are tight, methodologies need to shift, or stakeholders push back, your instinct is to solve. You bring resourcefulness to ambiguity, adapting your approach without losing rigor or momentum.
  • You pursue growth: You hold your work to a high standard and actively seek feedback to drive improvement. Every project is a chance to sharpen your craft.
  • You use AI to enhance research: AI is skillfully woven into your research practice. You experiment continuously with what's possible and share what you learn.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years conducting user research, with expertise in both quantitative and qualitative methods, including discovery research, usability testing, A/B testing, focus groups, field research, interviews, and surveys
  • Proficient user of Google Suite (e.g., Google Sheets, Google Slides) and Microsoft Excel for data analysis and visualization
  • Extensive experience with user research platforms and survey tools (e.g., Rally, SurveyMonkey)
  • Proven track record of delivering methodologically rigorous research and actionable insights that influence product decisions and business strategy
  • Strong project management skills, including attention to detail, managing multiple competing priorities, and navigating ambiguity and shifting timelines
  • Self-directed and analytical, with a strong ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and drive projects forward independently
  • Experience in coordinating and communicating between multiple stakeholders at varying organizational levels
  • Knowledge of the U.S. K-12 education landscape

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience leading user research in EdTech
  • Experience working in the U.S. K-12 education market
  • Familiarity with Amplify products and services
  • Graduate degree in a relevant field
