Full Job Description
As a Senior User Experience Designer, you will lead end-to-end design initiatives across Shutterfly's customer journey, from shopping and inspiration through personalization, creation, and checkout. Partnering closely with Product, Engineering, Research, Creative, and Design, you'll uncover customer needs, identify opportunities, and deliver solutions that drive both customer satisfaction and business results. This role is ideal for a strategic, hands-on designer who combines strong UX fundamentals with AI-assisted prototyping, rapid experimentation, and customer-centered thinking to shape the future of how customers create and celebrate life's most meaningful moments.

What You'll Do

Drive End-to-End Product Design

  • Lead UX initiatives from discovery through launch and optimization.
  • Design intuitive experiences across web and mobile platforms.
  • Create customer journeys, workflows, information architecture, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs.
  • Simplify complex personalization and creation experiences into streamlined, customer-friendly solutions.


Partner Across Teams

  • Collaborate closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Creative , Merchandising, and Ecommerce stakeholders.
  • Align design solutions with customer needs, technical constraints, and business objectives .
  • Facilitate workshops, design critiques, and stakeholder reviews.
  • Present design rationale and recommendations to leaders and cross-functional teams.


Influence Product Strategy

  • Contribute to product vision, roadmap planning, and prioritization discussions.
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to inform design decisions.
  • Balance short-term customer improvements with long-term strategic opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities to improve conversion, engagement, customer satisfaction, and retention.


Elevate Design Quality

  • Contribute to and evolve Shutterfly's design system and interaction patterns.
  • Advocate for consistency across experiences while maintaining flexibility where needed.
  • Stay current on industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
  • Use AI-powered tools to rapidly explore concepts, generate ideas, create prototypes, and evaluate design solutions.


What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience designing digital products and experiences.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX thinking and shipped products.
  • Expertise in user-centered design methodologies.
  • Experience conducting or applying user research and usability testing.
  • Proficiency with Figma , Figma Make and modern prototyping tools.
  • Experience using AI-powered design, research, or prototyping tools to accelerate the design process and validate concepts.
  • Strong understanding of information architecture, interaction design, and visual communication.
  • Experience working in Agile product development environments.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.


Success in This Role

The compensation package for this role is based on multiple factors, such as job level, responsibilities, location, and candidate experience. The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed, and may not be applicable to other locations.

California : [$117,750 - $166,000]

Connecticut and New York: [$117,750 - $152,000]

Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota and Washington: [$117,750 - $140,750]

Nevada: [$110,500 - $152,000]

Maryland and New Jersey: [$127,250 - $152,000]

Hawaii : [$110,500 - $132,250]

This opportunity can be remote, but candidates must reside in a state in which Shutterfly is registered to do business. This includes all US states except District of Columbia, North Dakota, Mississippi, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Wyoming.
