Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Underwriter 6 Team Lead in our Middle Market Business Unit.

Our Middle Market Underwriting team offers diverse multi-line capabilities targeted at select industry verticals such as real estate, hospitality, financial institutions, professional services, technology, and manufacturing. What you 2ll be doing:

• Demonstrate strong technical expertise in Middle Market P&C insurance, including Property, GL, WC, Auto, and Umbrella.
• Serve as a technical resource and role model for underwriting best practices, collaboration, and broker engagement.
• Apply underwriting tools, discipline, and strategy to ensure guideline compliance and sound decision-making.
• Conduct thorough account reviews and maintain strong file documentation.
• Analyze underwriting decisions, rate appeals, requirements, status, and declinations to drive territory results.
• Build and maintain strong broker relationships as the primary underwriting point of contact.
• Actively market the assigned territory through broker/client meetings, events, and travel.
• Provide day-to-day team leadership, coaching, and development to support underwriting excellence and professional growth

What you 2ll bring:

• Minimum 5 years of Middle Market underwriting authority/insurance experience

• Bachelor 2s degree preferred
• Proven success underwriting, quoting, and binding profitable business
• Experience across all account sizes and with brokers, agents, and specialty retailers
• Established regional and national broker relationships
• Prior leadership, mentorship, or coaching experience preferred
• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational skills

Salary Range: $125,000 - $170,000 Actual compensation for this role will depend on several factors including the cost of living associated with your work location, your qualifications, skills, competencies, and relevant experience.
