Old Republic Title is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to provide expert underwriting guidance, support title operations, and deliver exceptional customer service. This role is responsible for evaluating risk, mentoring team members, collaborating with internal and external partners, and ensuring compliance with underwriting standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies.

*Applicants to this position must possess Illinois underwriting experience and must be able to work a hybrid schedule out of one of our 10 Chicagoland office locations.

Daily Responsibilities may include:

  • Review and respond to underwriting questions received directly or through shared email folder in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Assist Title Examiners with questions related to title worksheets or title commitments.
  • Mentor Junior Underwriter to build knowledge of title underwriting and industry standards.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and maintain strong relationships with approved attorney customers.
  • Collaborate with underwriting colleagues to evaluate complex risks and ensure compliance with underwriting authority and company guidelines.
  • Communicate underwriting concerns promptly to management.
  • Support sales representatives in strengthening customer relationships.
  • Comply with all company policies, regulatory requirements, and required compliance training.
  • Review deeds, deeds of trust, mechanic’s liens, tax liens, judgments, probate records, surveys, and other recorded documents.
  • Assess ownership interests, legal descriptions, and matters affecting title.
  • Serve as a liaison among customers, attorneys, escrow agents, and lenders throughout transactions.
  • Partner with Agency Services, Escrow, National Commercial Services, and other departments as needed.
  • Underwrite and service title insurance transactions throughout Illinois
  • Review, underwrite, and issue commercial title commitments, policies, and endorsements on an as-needed basis.

Factors which may be used to determine the actual pay rate may include, but are not limited to, education, training or experience; seniority; merit and work performance; quantity or quality of production; regional differences in compensation; differences in local minimum wages, or ability and effort.

Position's Pay Range:

$75,000-$110,000
