Full Job Description
Nexus Specialty Inc., an Arrowhead Programs company, is looking for an Underwriter or Senior Underwriter - Miscellaneous Professional Liability (MPL), to join our US Financial Lines team. We are a fast paced, energetic and rapidly growing MGA that offers a great opportunity for a driven, experienced market-facing underwriter interested in helping continue to build our wholesale business.

The Underwriter/Senior Underwriter will play a key role working with the VP of MPL to help grow a profitable book of wholesale-only, middle market MPL/E&O business in the US. They will take an active part in the implementation of an underwriting strategy that identifies profitable market opportunities and key wholesale broker relationships.

How You Will Contribute:

  • Underwrite a portfolio of primary and excess MPL, Real Estate E&O and Insurance Agents E&O – both new business and renewals.

  • Adhere to company guidelines and underwriting authority, evaluate new business accounts to determine risk acceptability, contractual terms and pricing.

  • Partner with VP to review and manage overall book performance and production results.

  • Generate new business opportunities by leveraging wholesale broker contacts.

  • Manage wholesale broker relationships in assigned territory.

  • Represent Nexus/Arrowhead Programs at networking functions and other professional lines industry-related events.

  • Remain current on legal and regulatory changes and claim development in order to contribute to portfolio profitability.

Skills & Experience to be Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of MPL or E&O underwriting experience.

  • Demonstrates significant contribution to underwriting profit.

  • Independent decision maker – takes full responsibility for making decisions and consequences associated with decisions.

  • Knowledge of the management liability external market.

  • Established network of wholesale broker relationships.

  • Continually seeks opportunities for portfolio growth and potential broker opportunities.

Pay Range

$75,000.00 - $125,000.00 Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
