Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact- Provide technical leadership in fusion fuel cycle and tritium management technologies throughout the project lifecycle. Lead technical evaluations, feasibility studies, technology assessments, trade-off studies, engineering substantiation, process modelling, thermal-hydraulic assessments, equipment sizing, design optimization, and system integration studies.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor and help establish and grow technical capability through methodology development, knowledge transfer, mentoring, proposal development, risk management, and support for strategic growth initiatives.
- Collaborate with clients, research organizations, technology developers, regulators, suppliers, and industry partners. Represent Kinectrics in client engagements, technical reviews, regulatory interactions, industry forums, and strategic collaborations.
What You Need to Succeed- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, or a related discipline. A Master's degree or Ph.D. is preferred. A Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation, or eligibility for registration with a recognized professional engineering body, is an asset.
- 7+ years of experience in fusion fuel cycle systems, tritium engineering, fusion reactor technologies, or advanced nuclear systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in fusion fuel cycle and tritium management technologies, tritium transport phenomena, fuel cycle behaviour, process and systems engineering, safety analysis, hazard evaluation, radiological assessment, licensing, regulatory compliance, and quality assurance for tritium-bearing systems.
- Experience developing and applying tritium transport, fuel cycle, process, and engineering models, including mass and energy balances, mass transport and thermal-hydraulic analyses, equipment sizing, control system architecture, automation strategies, PFDs, and P&IDs.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and mentor others. Technical leadership demonstrated through project delivery, research, publications, technology development, patents, or participation in fusion and advanced nuclear initiatives is an asset.
- Ability to translate advanced fusion science, research outcomes, client requirements, and technology specifications into practical engineering solutions, project requirements, deployable designs, and engineering deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively at the interface of technology developers, researchers, clients, engineering organizations, regulators, suppliers, and industry partners across all phases of project delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, regulators, technology developers, researchers, and industry partners and to prepare clear technical specifications, calculations, reports, and design basis documents.
This role requires the successful candidate to complete the security clearance process. The security clearance process is conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements of the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) and may take up to 12 months to complete.
