Job Description

Stantec is seeking a highly motivated, ambitious, Senior Traffic Engineer (PE). The position will offer the opportunity to work on small and large high-profile roadway and highway projects. You will perform a variety of tasks that will require the application of sound principles and best practices.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Manage projects include traffic signal system design and re-timing, operational analysis, roadway capacity analysis, traffic safety studies, traffic signal, signing, and pavement marking and design, street lighting / illumination design, Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), and Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS).
  • Prepare construction documents and cost estimates for City, County and State roadway and highway projects.
  • Perform complex engineering design tasks per Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT's) design standards.
  • Develop budgets and monitor work of assigned team to ensure budgets and schedules are met
  • Coordinate with other Project Managers, project team and clients
  • Responsible for design, review and sealing of assigned projects
  • Provide technical advice to project teams and clients on traffic engineering matters.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including urban planners, architects, and civil engineers to create integrated solutions.
  • Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate the technical aspects of assigned projects.
  • Train developing staff on design and operational analysis software packages for traffic engineering projects.


Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • Proficiency in Microstation and OpenRoads
  • Proficiency in SIGN CAD, AGI-32 and micro-simulation modeling and operational analysis using SYNCHRO, SIMTRAFFIC, VISSIM, and HCS and other applicable Transportation Engineering Models.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, including writing technical reports and memos using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong knowledge of the TxDOT design/planning procedures, and PS&E plan production
  • Experience must include traffic operations and safety; highway capacity analysis; traffic operational analysis; Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD); designing and implementing traffic signal system timings; and preparing PS&E plans.
  • Ability to solve complex problems using sound professional judgement, creativity, and innovation
  • Ability to effectively discuss project issues with clients and reviewing agencies
  • Ability to participate and collaborate in project team setting, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues and solutions to others

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) is required.
  • TX PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) Certification preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years traffic engineering project experience
  • TxDOT Precertification preferred
