About the Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Traffic Engineer to join our well-established team of dedicated professionals in our Southwest region. This role will collaborate across the Southwest region (Utah, Nevada, New Mexico, and California) to support growth of our traffic engineering practice.). You will lead traffic engineering projects, provide technical expertise, mentor staff, and support business development efforts to expand Parametrix's presence in the region. Ideally this position will be based in Nevada, New Mexico, or Utah.

Your Role on the Team:
  • Technical Leadership: Serve as a senior technical resource for projects involving traffic operations, signal design, roadway lighting, pavement marking, and traffic control plans. Provide design oversight and quality assurance for complex transportation projects.
  • Project Management: Manage and deliver traffic design and operations projects for clients such as the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT), NMDOT, NDOT, and local municipalities.
  • Business Development: In collaboration with other senior professionals, support strategic growth of our traffic engineering practice by identifying new opportunities, building client relationships, and leading proposal efforts.
  • Mentorship and Team Development: Guide and mentor junior engineers and technical staff, foster professional growth and build a collaborative team culture.
  • Technical Expertise: Utilize software tools such as Synchro, VISSIM, and other traffic analysis platforms to conduct operational analysis, corridor timing, and transportation planning.
  • Client and Stakeholder Engagement: Interface effectively with clients, contractors, and the public, representing Parametrix in project meetings, public forums, and presentations.
  • Innovation and Safety: Contribute to initiatives like Vision Zero, Complete Streets, and walkability projects, ensuring traffic solutions prioritize safety and accessibility.

What You Bring to the Team:
  • Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Utah, Nevada and/or New Mexico and the ability to obtain licensure in the other states through reciprocity. Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification is preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in traffic engineering. Experience with regional clients is highly desirable.

Salary Range

$135,000-$165,000 USD

Compensation is determined by factors such as education, experience, location, and role. As employee-owners, we are eligible for performance-based bonuses and our salaries are reviewed annually. We value transparency and look forward to discussing our compensation structure.
