What is the opportunity?

Deal with a specialized Trade Finance Product that is held in high esteem in the market. Learn the end-to-end functionality not limited to Operations, but extends into Compliance, Collateral, Risk, Business and Service.

What will you do?
  • Accountable and Responsible for the operationalization and execution of the Letter of Guarantee instruments issued and thereto amended in accordance with the applicable rules and standard banking practices: Preparation & maintenance of the "Guarantee text" which captures all operational aspects and facilitates the daily administration of the final issuance, ensuring it's accurately captured in our lending/operating/financial systems.
  • Review draft/amending guarantees to ensure that Lending Services-Trade is able to operationalize all aspects of the agreement Providing advice to Corporate Bankers on terms/conditions of the guarantee at the draft stage, as it relates: (i) presentation of a demand not at GLA counters; (ii) country laws; (Hi) currency capabilities; (iv) timing/cash flow requirements; (v) product options; (vi) validity of rates.
  • Proactively identify operational and reputational risk and provide suggestions to Internal Partners to mitigate such occurrences. Liaise with borrowers, Agents, and legal counsel (both internal and external) as required in order to solve problems and provide correct operational protocol. Ability to respond to requests that fall outside the parameters of the credit agreement.
  • Verify fixed and accruing fee setup in Trade 360 and in ACBS: Ensure that fixed fee revenue streaming is correct based on the advised upon fee treatment (Responsibility Transit/GIB /FIC/etc).
  • Ensure that daily accruing fee revenue streaming is correct based on supporting language in Credit Agreement.
  • Provide back-up to Managers and other Assistant Managers during peak periods and absences. Able to make informed decisions in tight deadline situations while mitigating reputational/operational risk to RBC. Demonstrate leadership & problem solving skills by providing support and guidance to the Trade Specialist when needed in their daily work.
  • Review Lending Services-Trade reports (Seagate/OMS/Variance Report) and ensures prompt attention by the Trade Specialist to input comments and/or correct outstanding items within guidelines.
  • Identify gaps in Lending Services-Trade processes and provide detailed recommendations to the Manager for consideration and assist with the implementation of process changes.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have's
  • An Undergraduate Degree with a strong operational background (4+ years) and 5 years of related experience with proven demonstration of knowledge in lending/credit practices including knowledge of syndication practices, loan documentation, lending products, funding mechanisms in Canadian, US, UK/EU, SY markets.
  • Ability to prioritize, work under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage strong and effective relationships with internal and external business partners.

  • 7-10 yrs. in the financial industry
