Job SummaryWe have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Trade Compliance professional to join the company's International Trade Compliance (ITC) group.
This is a hybrid position based in San Diego, CA, Washington D.C. or another General Atomics office location in the United States; successful candidate not based in San Diego will be required to travel to San Diego occasionally for meetings, training, etc.
This new role will enable and shape global business strategies, by providing critical trade compliance guidance and obtaining effective export authorizations. The successful candidate will have deep export controls subject matter expertise, strong experience in both defense and commercial export licensing, and excellent skills as a business and government liaison.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:- Develops and manages activities related to export licenses in support of international business development activities; resolves complex issues
- Develops accurate databases, documentation and reports to reflect import/export activities.
- Establishes and implements policies and procedures and ensures compliance with requirements for license generation tracking and record keeping; tracks submitted licenses throughout U.S. Government review and approval processes; ensures time lines meet with contract requirements.
- Represents the organization as the primary contact with internal and external customers and government representatives.
- Ensures compliance to foreign and domestic laws and regulations regarding all import/export activities; oversees and participates in internal and external audits. Develops and coordinates internal compliance training; maintains associated documentation.
- Maintains an awareness of regulatory changes or rulings and their impact on import/exports; analyzes special programs and recommends changes to existing programs or implementations of new programs; identifies import/export issues and provides leadership in developing solutions.
- Provides direction to administrative staff.
- Responsible for ensuring all laws, regulations and other applicable obligations are observed wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company. Responsible for ensuring work is accomplished in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
Job Qualifications- Academically, this role typically requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, International Relations, Comparative Government, or a related field. However, relevant professional experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
- At this hiring level, the expectation is ten or more years of progressively complex experience in International Trade Compliance (ITC) with a Bachelor's degree and eight or more years of ITC experience with a Master's degree.
- U.S citizenship is required.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security clearance.
- Show an extensive understanding and application of import/export administration and licensing principles, theories, practices, and concepts.
- Display leadership skills including organizing, scheduling, conducting, and coordinating work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates.
- Possess the experience and ability to contribute to the development of new concepts, processes, techniques, and standards; and resolve a variety of extremely complex administrative and technical matters.
- Demonstrate a detailed, current expertise in the application of U.S. export control laws and regulations, trade compliance best practices, and the ability to manage a dynamic workload while meeting milestones. (Familiarity with the requirements of non-U.S. trade compliance regulations and programs is preferred, but not required.)
