Full Job Description
An immediate full-time position is available for a Senior Testing Engineer in San Antonio, Texas. The Senior Testing Engineer leads the planning, execution, and reporting of complex testing programs. The successful candidate will manage projects from proposal through completion. This position supports the operation and continuous improvement of BakerRisk's test facilities by overseeing test readiness, instrumentation, standard operating procedures, equipment capabilities, and facility enhancement initiatives. Success in this role requires strong engineering judgment, project management skills, and the ability to translate complex test data into practical, technically sound recommendations for clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

Technical Leadership
  • Active participation in safety planning and hazard assessments.
  • Develop objectives, methodologies, and instrumentation plans for test programs.
  • Support and lead research and development initiatives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and technical staff.

Project Execution
  • Develop project schedules, resource requirements, budgets, and execution plans.
  • Manage multiple concurrent testing projects from proposal through final delivery.
  • Coordinate activities involving engineers, technicians, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Monitor project performance and implement corrective actions to maintain schedule, quality, and budget objectives.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and client deliverables.

Test Facility Operations
  • Support safe operation of BakerRisk's testing facilities and testing infrastructure.
  • Participate in development of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide oversight of instrumentation, data acquisition systems, high-speed video systems, and specialized test equipment.

Education

Master's Degree in engineering (Civil/Structural, Mechanical, Materials). A Bachelor's degree may be acceptable with prior work experience as a structural engineer.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 8-12 years of engineering experience, with significant experience in experimental testing, structural testing, blast testing, materials testing, mechanical testing, research engineering, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience developing test plans, procedures, instrumentation layouts, and technical reports.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and interpreting experimental data.
  • Proficiency with instrumentation and measurements, data acquisition systems, high-speed data collection and imaging systems

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain and active test ranges.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at elevated locations, and access remote testing areas.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment.
