Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Reliability Engineer position will support MPLX's Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services (NG&NGL). Individual shall provide machinery and reliability engineering expertise and partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Projects in sustaining and enhancing the reliability and integrity of rotating equipment for a safe, compliant, reliable, and cost-efficient operation.

This position belongs to a family of jobs with increasing responsibility, competency, and skill level. The actual position title and pay grade will be based on the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Acts as rotating equipment subject matter expert.
  • Establishes and optimizes preventive and predictive maintenance programs using best practices and applicable reliability engineering strategies, tools, and techniques.
  • Leads asset health and bad actor reviews, engaging with cross functional teams and outside specialized support to determine needs, assess risk, provide direction, and bring closure on reliability issues.
  • Provides technical reviews, advances technology and tools utilization, and establishes technical specifications for new and modified equipment.
  • Supports development of remote performance and condition monitoring, and optimization of equipment.
  • Analyzes equipment condition and performance, both in troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Leads reliability improvement projects carrying on the recommendations through completion and verifications.
  • Writes applicable guidelines, standards, and specifications for reliability improvements and deploy them across the operation.
  • Provides technical support and troubleshooting for major rotating equipment as well as ancillary equipment.
  • Leads rotating equipment root cause investigations and apply findings across the operation.
  • Supports inventory optimization and spare parts optimization efforts.
  • Perform engine and compressor modeling to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Perform piping and rotating equipment vibration analysis and develop corrective actions.
  • Build close relationships with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Project groups and act as a subject matter expert in improving equipment reliability.
  • Collaboratively advance digital technology application on critical equipment.
  • Collaborate as a strong team player, working effectively, cooperatively, and sharing knowledge and skill with others.
  • Analyze impacts to safety, compliance, reliability, environment, personnel, and business economics when making recommendations and decisions.
  • Work independently with remote and minimal supervision, be self-starting and proactive, and use strong organizational skills.
  • Communicate effectively to various levels within the organization, both verbally and in writing.
  • Write clear and concise technical reports and other various types of documentation in an accurate and timely manner. Strong use of documentation skills.
  • Strong use of analytical skills.
  • Lead efforts and facilitate alignment meetings and make technical and business decisions.
  • Daily use of computers and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Organize and manage multiple competing priorities according to deadlines.
  • Shift focus based on business needs and comfortably cope with change.
  • Work in both a collaborative team and individual environment.
  • Remotely support multiple sites within NG&NGL.
  • Prioritizes safety.
  • Occasional travel expected based on business needs. Estimated 10-15%.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from accredited college or university. Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Four (4) years of related experience required.
  • Must hold a valid driver license, pass a drug test, and pass a background check.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • In depth knowledge of, and experience with installation and commissioning of, centrifugal compressors, screw compressors, reciprocating compressors, and centrifugal pumps.
  • Experience with NGL fractionation and refrigeration.
  • Understanding of vibration analysis and mitigation strategies.
  • Experience with vibration analysis software.
  • Vibration and lubrication certification.
  • Demonstrated understanding in the application and use of Reliability tools and analytical processes, including but not limited to Root Cause Failure Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis, Reliability modeling and prediction, Fault Tree Analysis, Weibull Analysis, Six Sigma, Life Cycle Cost Analysis, etc. to identify and address reliability opportunities for improvements.
