If you love high profile and challenging projects supporting the United States Navy - Serco has a great opportunity for you! This Senior Test Engineer Position will be on a dynamic team responsible for testing US Navy surface, submarine, and information warfare programs at our customer site in the Norfolk, Virginia area. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to make an impact on our national security.

Serco supports the US Navy in the acquisition of new technology used to support our warfighters and to defend our nation. Our team reviews acquisition documentation, develops test plans, executes test events, collects and analyzes data, and writes test reports. This includes programs supporting the US Navy's Operation Test and Evaluation Command (OPTEVFOR). You will be part of a 7-10 -member team that works closely with the customer to evaluate the effectiveness and suitability of new warfare technologies. The team has been supporting Test and Evaluation for over 20 years and has been recognized by the Navy for their outstanding contributions.

In this role, you will:
  • Perform as the Test and Evaluation Engineer that supports OPTEVFOR in the review of acquisition documents, development of complex test plans, execution of operational tests, reduction and analysis of data, and writing of test reports.
  • Support Operational Test and Evaluation (OT&E) events to provide OPTEVFOR with an evaluation of the mission capability of the system or platform when employed in a realistic, operational environment.
  • Support OPTEVFOR in providing a T&E Strategy brief for all major acquisition programs under Department of War oversight.
  • Assist in providing OT&E strategy associated with operational testing and drafting of applicable sections of the Test and Evaluation Master Plan (TEMP).
  • Develop and provide Department of War with a T&E Concept Briefing on planned OT&E activity.
  • Support development of the Test Plan for approval, execute test events, collect, and analyze data, and provide a report on the results.
  • Work directly with senior technical personnel, stakeholders, and project managers in the planning and execution of test events.
  • Employ existing guidelines and instructions, customer guidance, experience, and independent judgment to plan and accomplish test objectives.


To be successful in this roll, you will have:
  • US Citizenship
  • Secret security clearance
  • Bachelor`s degree and 5 years of experience or a High School Degree and 10 years of OT&E experience
  • Understanding of Navy systems, platforms and operations
  • Experience in either surface ships, submarines or information warfare systems
  • Proficiency in technical writing
  • Proficiency with MS-Office software to include MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and MS Power Point
  • Ability to travel up to 10%

Additional desired experience and skills:
  • OPTEVFOR or acquisition experience
  • DAU Level II or higher in Test and Evaluation
  • Completion of the OPTEVFOR Operational Test Director (OTD) Course
