About the Role

In this exciting and lively role as a test engineer, your responsibilities will include developing and implementing test strategies related to wireless diabetes therapy systems. You will develop test plans, test methods, and present reports collaborating with project leaders. You will also be responsible for executing design verification for new products in development and evaluating design changes for additional testing. You will collaborate with engineers across various disciplines and non-engineering functions to help patients manage diabetes with world class products.
This role is full time on-site in Northridge, CA to support test method development and supervising of product verification testing. Up to 30% domestic travel is expected.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
  • Develop test strategies activities associated with a family of insulin therapy systems used by individuals to effectively manage Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
  • Develop design verification tests and support test execution related to wireless performance internally and externally at contract labs for new and existing products.
  • Operate and maintain broad spectrum of lab equipment, such as DMM, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, power amplifiers, smart scopes, oscilloscopes, environmental chambers
  • Collaborate cross functionally across R&D functions and provide assessments with standards and global regulatory teams to expand global availability of MiniMed systems around the world.
  • Partner with key functions (Electrical Engineering, Software R&D, Systems Engineering) to develop robust wireless communication systems
  • Review and contribute to risk management deliverables like failure modes effects analysis (dFMEA/pFMEA) and identify potential patient hazards.
  • Develop product knowledge and develop test methods across a broad range of mechanical, electrical, and functional testing for electromechanical devices
  • Demonstrate exceptional communication and technical writing skills while collaborating with large cross-functional teams (R&D, Ops, Regulatory, Quality).


Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering field with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience. Or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience collaborating with a team of engineers and non-engineers.
  • Experience working on electromechanical systems or medical devices.
  • Experience with test method development and willingness to be hands-on in lab environments
  • Ability to travel and support testing in outside test labs within the U.S.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and activities.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges on a broad spectrum of topics.
  • A degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry with rigid design and development controls
  • Experienced with measurement and test equipment such as field probes, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, power amplifiers etc.
  • Experience with Standards and Regulations related to Medical Devices (IEC 60601-1, European Radio Directive, etc.)
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge to other engineers as part of a large collaborative work environment.
  • Familiarity with SW tools (written in either LabView, Python, MATLAB)
  • Experience with planning and executing formal tests and generating detailed records

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$87,000.00 - $149,000.00

For roles located in California, Seattle WA, Washington DC, Boston MA, and New York City, the salary range is $97,000 - $165,000 USD.

Actual compensation may vary based on factors including experience, education, certifications, skills, market conditions, internal equity, and geographic location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Short Term Incentive (STI).
