Full Job Description
ACCOUNTABILITY OBJECTIVE:

Take responsibility for assigned tasks and investigations within the Technical Center. The Senior Test Engineer is expected to demonstrate strong accountability by ensuring that all projects are completed properly, on schedule, and within budget, while delivering accurate and reliable results. Upholding integrity is essential to maintaining the credibility of Hilite International as a technologically advanced supplier. This role also supports innovation by contributing to technical advancements and problem-solving initiatives. Additionally, the Senior Test Engineer will take on special assignments that require effective collaboration with the Technical Center team, Sales Support, Sales Application, Sales and Powertrain Engineers, and Liaison Engineers.

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

To be successful in this role, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or higher and 10+ years of experience are required. Detailed engineering knowledge in:

  • Demonstrate a strong hands on knowledge of internal combustion engines.
  • Intimate knowledge and experience with complicated and sophisticated engine test cell installation and operation. Including but not limited to:
    • Test cell calibration,
    • Instrumentation,
    • Software programming,
  • Proficiently in test cell programming utilizing Morphee test bed software.
  • Proficient in utilizing ATI and ETAS software for engine calibration.
  • Familiar with standard base engine calibration best practices
  • Proficient with A&D CAS combustion analysis hardware/software or other engine combustion equipment
  • Familiar with standard emissions testing techniques
  • Electrical wiring and diagnostics
  • Data analysis and reporting.


Employees must be able to analyze and interrupt common scientific and technical journals. Employees must be able to respond to common inquiries or requests from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community in a timely and professional manner. Employees must have the ability to write reports and articles for publications that conform to prescribed style and format. Employees must also have the ability to effectively present information to customers and public groups. Employees are required to apply advanced mathematics. Employees will be required to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions; as well as interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

PRINCIPAL WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Works closely with: Test Engineers, Test Engineering Manager, Test Technicians, R&D Technical Services Manager, and all other Hilite International employees.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Interface with customers, sales office personnel, powertrain personnel, various Hilite International plants and departments on issues related to the Technical Center.
  2. Understand customer requirements and tasks as well as Hilite International test and development procedures. Develop new procedures as required.
  3. Plan, run, and organize tasks and investigations in the Tech Center. Performs the activities related to technical projects, special testing, and engine build up. Formal reporting of projects and data analysis will be required at project conclusions.
  4. This position will include performing tasks and assignments involving data analysis, presentations, cost reduction initiatives, reporting, maintaining databases and other general office and support functions.
  5. Required to observe all safety rules and regulations. Must act safely and be responsible for the safety of others around the work area(s). Complies with company policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards.
  6. Other duties as assigned.
