Full Job Description
The Advanced Engine Dynamics Specialist will work within Propulsion Systems Virtual Engineering team, focusing on simulations to support product development and research activity in the area of dynamics for durability, functionality and NVH. The engineer will be responsible to collect input data, develop and validate 1D/2D/3D models, run simulations, post process and communicate results with customers. The individual will receive requests from product responsible department and respond with analytical results using available tools/methodology or will develop new tool/methodology if existing ones are not sufficient. Robust technical, interpersonal and team leadership skills are essential.

The responsibility of the engineer will include, but not limited to:
• Develop and validate of Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) and Finite Element (FE) model for the Propulsion Systems components, sub-systems and systems, including but not limited to:
o ICE Mechanical Systems: cranktain, balancer shafts, timing drive, timing belt, valvetrain, FEAD, DI pump
o Transmission: dynamic and NVH (rattle and whine); DMF/torque converter/P2/SI-eVT hybrid torsional
o Driveline: powerhoop, ice rink, tip-in/tip-out clunk, engine start/stop
o Park Gear System: hill hold/pull out of park, ratcheting, rollback distance
o Wheel End Disconnect: engagement time, dynamic torque
• Execute simulations through MBD models, covering the mechanical systems dynamics (vibrations, loads and Boundary Conditions for durability, functionality and NVH studies) of Propulsion Systems sub-systems and systems.
• Execute DoE and optimization analysis aimed to ensure the best trade-off over performances (durability, NVH, weight, ..).
• Execute detailed studies including root cause analysis on issues and enablers identification, as well as correlation activities aimed to demonstrate the virtual analysis confidence level.
• Technically coordinate virtual validations plans for propulsion systems program(s) including analysis scope / target agreement with stakeholders, timely delivery of status vs target and proactive identification / validation of enablers if target is not achieved.
• Report and communicate activities results with clear takeaways, executive summary and, if needed, root cause analysis and risk mitigation plan.
• Directly interact with Stellantis stakeholders for all the steering activities: input data collection, input data validation, results revision and communication.
• Train and coach of new engineers distributed in different Regions.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field)
  • Minimum 7 years' experience and proven ability in CAE (preferably in dynamics discipline).Thorough knowledge of the English language including both written and oral communication.
    • Thorough knowledge of Propulsion Systems design with focus on internal combustion engines, conventional / electrified transmission, axle and driveline, Electric Drive Module (EDM).
    • Advanced knowledge of CAE tools for Muti-Body simulation (Excite/Simdrive/Adams), FE pre-processing (like ANSA, Hyperworks), and structural analysis (like NASTRAN, Abaqus)
    • General knowledge of commercial CAD packaging including NX and Teamcenter.
    • Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Preferred qualifications
  • Master of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Industrial, Computer Engineering, Applied Physics, or related Engineering field)
