Job description

We are looking for a Senior Telecom Commissioning Engineer to lead the commissioning and start-up of railway telecommunications systems in Mississauga. This role owns the process end-to-end - from planning through testing to client handover - working closely with third parties, regulatory bodies, and internal teams, while mentoring less experienced engineers along the way.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and ensure adherence to a detailed commissioning schedule and plan, covering all phases from pre-commissioning through start-up to handover.
  • Prepare and/or update a comprehensive commissioning manual.
  • Establish a reporting structure and define accountabilities for the commissioning team.
  • Plan and coordinate the commissioning/start-up schedule, including required work with third-party providers.
  • Develop pre-commissioning test procedures and documentation, correcting any deficiencies identified.
  • Produce compliance and progress reports in accordance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Liaise with government agencies, as required, to secure necessary approvals prior to start-up.
  • Prepare client acceptance forms and ensure satisfactory sign-off is obtained.
  • Develop comprehensive quality, environment, and safety (QES) commissioning plans.
  • Manage assigned projects and processes independently, with limited supervision.
  • Coach and review the work of junior team members, addressing technical challenges that are often complex.
Profile

Must-Haves
  • 5-8 years of experience in telecom engineering
  • 1-2 years of experience in Railway System Engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology
  • Ability to pass a clear background check
  • Full-time on-site availability in Mississauga (field-based role)

Nice-to-Haves
  • Professional Engineer license (P.Eng) registered in Ontario


Expected Compensation Range:
120K. The final compensation offered will be determined based on the candidate's level of experience, skills, and qualifications, in compliance with applicable pay transparency requirements.

Canadian Experience Requirement:
No Canadian work experience is required for this position. Candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of previous Canadian experience.
