We are seeking an experienced
Senior Tekla Detailer to lead structural steel modeling and detailing from design through fabrication.
This position combines
hands-on Tekla detailing with technical leadership, including quality control, workflow development, standards implementation, and team mentorship. The ideal candidate has extensive experience using
Tekla Structures in a structural steel fabrication environment and understands the complete detailing process from modeling and connections through shop drawings, fabrication, and erection.
Responsibilities
- Develop and review detailed Tekla Structures models, shop drawings, erection drawings, and fabrication packages for structural steel projects.
- Establish, maintain, and improve company standards for Tekla modeling, detailing, and drawing production.
- Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to structural steel detailers.
- Train team members and conduct quality-control reviews to ensure consistent and accurate detailing practices.
- Coordinate with engineers, Project Managers, estimators, fabrication teams, and production personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Review structural drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and engineering documents for accuracy, completeness, and constructability.
- Perform detailed QC reviews of Tekla models and fabrication drawings before release to production.
- Support fabrication and field teams by resolving RFIs, revisions, connection issues, and other technical detailing questions.
- Identify opportunities to improve Tekla workflows, templates, automation, and drawing standards.
- Assist with workload planning, project scheduling, and prioritization to meet production deadlines.
- Collaborate with engineering and fabrication teams to ensure models and drawings accurately reflect project requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, consistency, and department efficiency.
Requirements- 8+ years of structural steel detailing experience with advanced Tekla Structures proficiency.
- Structural steel fabrication experience is required.
- Advanced proficiency with Tekla Structures is required.
- Proven experience developing or improving Tekla standards, templates, workflows, or detailing procedures.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, training, or supervising structural steel detailers.
- Strong understanding of structural steel fabrication, connection detailing, erection sequencing, and shop drawing production.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, architectural plans, specifications, and engineering documents.
- Experience coordinating with engineering, fabrication, production, and project management teams.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, fabrication-ready documentation.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and production deadlines.
- Strong understanding of the relationship between 3D modeling, fabrication, and field erection.
