Minimum qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, Professional Writing, English, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field and 6 years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a Technical Writer-related occupation.
- Alternatively, will accept a Master's degree in Technical Communication, Professional Writing, English, Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field, and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a Technical Writer-related occupation.
- Position requires 4 years of experience in the following: Writing accurate, clear, concise, and well-organized technical content (developer documentation, Computer Science course material, or IT administration playbooks) using industry-standard style guides; Content plan development for technical content, including defining content goals and selecting formats (text, illustration, screenshot, voice, video); Collaborating with subject matter experts (SMEs) to understand technologies, extract user-required information, and iterate on content drafts within an Agile development environment; Applying general technical concepts to analyze problems and communicate technical information by interpreting source code (Java, Python, or Go), architectural diagrams, and engineering design docs; Leading content creation projects, including scoping work, guiding team members, and communicating project status.
About the jobThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $138,000 - $201,000 15% bonus target equity benefits determined by role, level, and location. Position reports to the Google (Kirkland, WA) office & may allow for a hybrid schedule as per Google policy.
Responsibilities - Write technical documentation for developers and cloud architects building private Google Cloud solutions.
- Produce new, high-quality content designed to help customers succeed.
- Curate and maintain the existing customer-facing content library for accuracy and relevance.
- Edit, clarify, and proofread technical documents written by engineering and product teams.
- Coach non-writers and subject matter experts on ways to improve their writing skills. Collaborate with a global team of engineers, product managers, and content strategists.
