Summary

The Senior Technical Specialist 1 Computer-Aided Design & Drafting (CADD) serves as an assistant CADD Manager for MTA Construction & Development (C&D), managing Architectural, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) CADD applications. This position will help the C&D users (internal and external) utilize AEC tools for the planning, design, collaboration, and delivery processes of complex and multidisciplinary projects in a multiplatform environment. The incumbent will manage CADD production, including standards, procedures, training, and CADD production hardware provisions. The incumbent will handle all the necessary tools & technologies and their processes to help ensure uniformity of construction-document sets under C&D standards and policies, from schematic through as-built submittals.

Responsibilities

The role will entail some of these typical duties:

Assist with maintaining the CADD standard and specifications and oversee the implementation of standards to assure full compliance with C&D's policies and procedures.

Assist with developing and providing auditing guidelines and automated tools, as well as quality control (QC) checklists for receiving final document delivery on each project.

Provide CADD Support and monitor CADD-related support tickets to assist with the resolution of client service problems/issues/requests.

Manages a small team of technical staff.

Embraces mentoring from senior staff.

Adheres to corporate quality control standards within the area of technical expertise.

Coordinates with in-house engineering disciplines and other areas of technical expertise as needed.

Education and Experience

Bachelor of Science degree in appropriate technical discipline or an equivalent subject. Various disciplines may include, but are not limited to, Computer Science, Information Systems/Technology, Computer, Communications, Electrical, Electronics, Signals, or Systems Engineering/Technology.

Must have a minimum of eight (8) years of related experience.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role and/or project manager role in a large, multi-faceted organization and/or with highly complex systems.

Competencies:

Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD/MicroStation/ProjectWise.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Experience with navigating through a large multi-discipline organization.

Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

Knowledge of industry trends related to CADD systems and workflows.

Knowledge of the capital design and construction process.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the proficient use of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
