Full Job Description
Job Purpose

  • The Sr Technical Project Engineer plays a pivotal role in facilitating the successful launch of multiple vehicle projects at various stages of the development cycle within the department.
  • Tasked with implementing streamlined processes and industry best practices, the role focuses on empowering Honda engineers to excel in the development of Advanced Driver-Assistance System (ADAS) technologies.
  • This involves aligning their efforts with Honda's overarching global safety and ADAS strategies, ensuring the seamless integration of innovative solutions into our vehicles.


Key Accountabilities

  • Support department teams with creating and maintaining performance development schedules. Ensure alignment of vehicle evaluation timing, software and hardware delivery, test readiness, and milestone requirements across internal groups, suppliers and global development counterparts.
  • Lead recurring project reviews to track maturation, open issues, action items, test results and readiness for technical evaluation or quality milestone events.
  • Develop efficient reporting methods and project KPIs; provide project health summary report to management and technical leadership.
  • Provide training and on-going support to department users on program management software and tools. Implement and enhance dashboards to improve project management efficiency / task visibility for team members.
  • Lead identification and execution of process efficiency / quality improvements in technical document creation, reporting, presenting and storing of results.
  • Set-up, maintain and continuously improve project tracking spaces, dashboards and documentation repositories to support development transparency and audit readiness.
  • Monitor and confirm compliance to Dept Quality Standard for technical / quality evaluations.
  • Other project leadership assignments as required.


Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Education:
    • Must have a Bachelors level degree in Engineering (Automotive / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical / Electronics) or a related STEM field of study
  • Minimum work experience and other key qualifying skills:
    • At least 5 years in automotive industry, preferably in project management
    • Technical understanding of automotive development milestones & software development lifecycle
    • Technical knowledge of vehicle control systems, preferably related to vehicle dynamics and ADAS
    • Excellent communication skills and experience leading cross-functional teams
    • Strong presentation and negotiation skills
    • Highly proficient with MS Office Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
    • Project Management System software (i.e., IBM RTC Jazz and/or Jira), alongside an in-depth understanding of project management methodology and tools
    • Strong organization skills and ability to support multiple projects simultaneously.


Workstyle

  • This is an onsite job. One remote workday per week may be possible with prior departmental approval
