Senior Technical Program Manager-Data Science
Overview
The Security Solutions Data Science team is looking for an experienced Senior Technical Program Manager with an understanding of data science who is eager to take on the responsibility of managing a wide variety of data science projects. The person in this role will join a team of leading edge data scientists who use AI to secure the legitimate movement of money for everyone. We are working to solve fraud related problems for our customers through AI as a foundation for new product offerings.
The Technical Program Management team enables smoother execution of the Security Solutions Data Science program to make our stakeholders' lives easier. You will interact with data scientists, product managers, engineers, and senior leaders across partner teams in the organization to deliver complex projects. You will define roadmap deliverables, develop execution plans, align dependencies, track progress, anticipate risks, provide escalation management, make sound trade-off decisions, and translate technical expressions into business terminology. The ideal candidate is passionate about the customer experience journey, highly motivated, intellectually curious, analytical, and possesses an entrepreneurial mindset. You are expected to be detail-oriented, with a solid technical background and excellent problem-solving skills.

As a Senior Technical Program Manager for data science, you are expected to perform the following general responsibilities:
Role
• Develop and maintain the team strategy roadmap by translating business and technical priorities into clear initiatives, milestones, sequencing, and measurable outcomes
• Partner across data science, engineering, product, and leadership teams to align roadmap priorities with business goals, platform strategy, capacity, and cross-team dependencies
• Lead roadmap planning routines, including intake, prioritization, trade-off discussions, quarterly planning, progress reviews, and ongoing adjustments as team or business needs evolve
• Provide visibility into roadmap health by tracking commitments, risks, dependencies, decision points, and delivery progress across strategic initiatives
• Serve as the primary liaison between data science and engineering, managing day-to-day planning and execution of data science projects related to:
• Data production and data pipelines spanning the data science organization
• AI tooling initiatives for data science
• Model monitoring, including tooling, AI engineering, and operations
• Development stack enhancements
• Act as the first point of contact for your teams, business line, or service, serving as the single source of truth for project status and ensuring the right information is shared with the right audience at the right time and level of detail
• Translate technical approaches, trade-offs, and outcomes into clear business language
• Clearly articulate scope, timelines, dependencies, owners, actions, risks, and mitigations; report progress to teams and senior leadership on a regular cadence, representing segments of or the full program as needed
• Work with data scientists and engineering teams to improve ways of working and proactively identify and mitigate risks or issues that may impact the plan
• Conduct meaningful retrospectives and create action plans to implement improvements at the team level

• Experience with project management, operating autonomously across multiple teams, with demonstrated critical thinking
• Experience with agile and kanban frameworks
• Capable of breaking down problems, organizing work, planning, and building
• Success at helping data science, engineering, and product teams make trade-off decisions by considering all data including business goals, technical platform strategy, customer experience and maintainability
• Skilled at recognizing obstacles and facilitating their effective resolution.
• Proven track record of data-driven decision making and applying continuous improvement methodologies across teams
• Demonstrated experience building relationships, partnering with and influencing dependent teams while commanding the respect of the individuals you work with across the organization
• Excellent organization, interpersonal, administrative and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication skills
• Capable of working independently but with a collaborative nature
• Ability to navigate a matrix organization

In line with Mastercard's total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Pay Ranges
Toronto, Canada: $121,000 - $169,000 CAD
