Job Description

WSP is seeking a Senior Technical Manager, Structural Engineer to join the Industrial Center of Excellence Structural Team within the Property & Buildings business line in Boise, ID. This leadership role will provide senior technical expertise, project delivery oversight, and mentorship for complex industrial projects across North America.

The Industrial CoE supports advanced manufacturing, semiconductor and microelectronics, battery, life sciences, food and beverage, mission-critical, logistics, and other large-scale industrial facilities. The successful candidate will serve as a structural Subject Matter Expert, lead design for greenfield and brownfield projects, and help strengthen technical delivery and client relationships.

Your Impact
  • Lead structural engineering for industrial facilities from planning through design, construction, commissioning, and startup.
  • Design and review manufacturing facilities, process buildings, equipment foundations, support structures, pipe racks, utility infrastructure, warehouses, and heavy industrial facilities.
  • Provide technical oversight for calculations, construction documents, specifications, engineering reports, seismic design, vibration analysis, equipment anchorage, crane systems, and dynamic loading.
  • Develop practical, innovative solutions that balance safety, constructability, operational performance, and cost.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects with accountability for budgets, schedules, staffing, quality, risk, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Coordinate structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, process, and civil teams in design-build and EPC environments.
  • Support construction administration, including site observations, RFIs, submittals, contractor coordination, and constructability reviews.
  • Serve as a trusted client advisor; support pursuits, proposals, interviews, market growth, and Industrial CoE technical initiatives.
  • Mentor engineers and project managers while promoting technical excellence, collaboration, knowledge sharing, and inclusive team development.

Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related discipline
  • PE license required.
  • 10+ years of progressive structural engineering experience, with significant industrial facility design experience.
  • Experience with industrial/manufacturing, processing, logistics, mission-critical, advanced technology, or similar facilities.
  • Proficiency with structural analysis/design and BIM tools such as ETABS, RAM, SAP2000, STAAD, RISA, Revit, Navisworks, or similar platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of AISC, ACI, ASCE 7, IBC, OSHA requirements, and industrial facility design standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, coordinate across disciplines, communicate technical concepts, and travel occasionally for client or project needs.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree, SE license, or 15+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Experience with semiconductor, microelectronics, battery, pharmaceutical, life sciences, food and beverage, chemical, or advanced manufacturing facilities.
  • Experience with BIM/Revit delivery, large capital programs over $100M, national consulting leadership, and established industrial client relationships.
