Full Job Description
We are hiring a SeniorTax Manager in our office in Morrisville, NC (hybrid role), to join our team and contribute to our ongoing success.

Position Summary

The Senior Tax Manager serves as the in-house tax leader and has end-to-end responsibility for the company's domestic and international tax function. This hands on leadership role sets tax priorities, directs compliance and reporting, advises senior leadership, and builds the processes, controls, and external relationships needed to manage tax risk across a complex, multi-entity organization. The position balances strategic planning with direct execution and review of critical filings, calculations, payments, audits, and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the enterprise-wide tax function and establish priorities, governance, and controls.
  • Oversee and manage federal, state, and international tax compliance, including consolidated and separate company income tax returns, estimated payments, extensions, information reporting, and related elections by working with external providers.
  • Support the annual income tax provision process under ASC 740, including current and deferred taxes, uncertain tax positions, tax account reconciliations, and financial statement disclosures.
  • Forecast cash taxes and partner with Treasury and Finance to ensure payments are accurate, timely, properly approved, and reflected in liquidity planning.
  • Oversee indirect and operational tax matters and compliance, including Sales & Use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, gross receipts and franchise taxes, business licenses, registrations, and exemption documentation across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Evaluate nexus, filing positions, entity structures, intercompany activity, transfer pricing, and cross-border transactions; identify exposures and recommend practical, tax efficient actions.
  • Serve as a strategic adviser to the CFO, Controller, and business leaders on the tax implications of transactions, operational changes, legal entity decisions, contracts, and growth initiatives.
  • Lead tax audits, notices, voluntary disclosures, refund claims, and controversy matters; develop supportable positions and coordinate responses with tax authorities and external advisers.
  • Direct external tax firms and specialty providers, including defining scope, managing timelines, reviewing work product, resolving technical issues, and holding advisers accountable for quality and deadlines.
  • Design, document, and improve tax processes and internal controls. Build repeatable workflows that preserve institutional knowledge, strengthen accuracy, and reduce compliance risk.
  • Support tax technology and data initiatives, including tax engine configuration, ERP and reporting improvements, automation, and reconciliation tools that improve efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assess their financial and operational effects, and communicate material risks, opportunities, and required actions to senior management and external advisors.
  • Provide functional leadership across cross-functional teams, set expectations for tax deliverables, and manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Maintain current legal entity and tax-account records and ensure changes are reflected in organizational charts, registrations, filing profiles, and compliance processes.
  • Lead special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Credentials
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA or Master of Science in Taxation preferred.


Experience
  • 10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, including broad responsibility for income and indirect taxes, with at least three years in a managerial or supervisory role within a multistate industry setting.
  • Demonstrated experience with direct and indirect tax compliance, tax accounting, cash-tax forecasting, audit defense, risk management, and strategic tax planning.
  • Experience supporting international operations, including VAT/GST, transfer pricing, withholding tax, or other cross-border tax matters.
  • Experience in manufacturing, e-commerce, or similarly complex business environment is a plus.


Technical Skills
  • Advanced knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws and the ability to research, document, and defend technical tax positions.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740, tax provisions, tax account reconciliations, and financial statement reporting.
  • Working knowledge of indirect tax requirements across sales and use tax, VAT/GST, property tax, franchise/gross receipts taxes, and business licensing.
  • Experience with tax technology, ERP systems, and process automation; SAP Business One experience is a plus.

  • Ability to explain complex tax matters, risks, and recommendations clearly to senior leadership and non-tax partners.

Base Salary Range $127,000-155,000
