JOB TITLE: Tax Senior Associate

LOCATION: Irvine, CA (hybrid role, may work from home.)

DUTIES: Lead and review the preparation of complex federal and state income tax returns for a diverse client base, including corporations (Form 1120), partnerships (Form 1065), and high-net-worth individuals (Form 1040). (20%) Appropriately delegate tasks to tax associates or outsourced personnel, including organization and classification of documents received from clients, preparation of tax calculations, financial summaries, and supporting schedules, and input of data in tax preparation software including CCH Axcess and GoSystem. (5%) Ensure tax payments and financial documentation are reported timely and in compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. (5%) Draft explanations and summary of tax positions for the tax files. (0.2%) Draft detailed requests for client information required for the execution of tax compliance and planning engagements. (0.2%) Develop a thorough understanding of income tax returns to be filed by individuals (Form 1040, 1040-NR) and businesses (Form 1120, 1120-F, 1120-S, 1065, etc.) including the applicable forms and domestic and informational reports (Form 5471, 5472, 8621, 8865, 8858, 8938, 8992, 8993, FBAR, etc.) based on the applicable federal, international, and state tax rules and regulations. (9%) Review and analyze tax and financial information provided by clients, including financial statements, trial balance details, fixed asset registers, and tax forms such as 1099, W-2, K-1, K-3, and contracts and agreements. (5%) Provide inputs to tax managers and partners on additional information required and supplementary tax forms and filings to be completed. (5%) Supervise the progress of tasks performed by tax associates. (5%) Provide ongoing guidance and technical assistance. (5%) Perform tax research on federal, international, and state tax matters as directed by managers and partners or as a result of issues encountered in the course of tax compliance and planning engagements. (5%) Prepare complex tax accounting calculations, including corporate tax provision, estimate of multistate current and deferred taxes, partnership taxable income allocation under targeted allocation and waterfall rules. (15%) Complete the preparation of most tax returns within the tax software, including consolidated, multi-state returns, and information reporting for foreign corporations. (5%) Timely report to managers on status of tax engagements, tax technical issues, technology issues, scheduling conflicts. (2%) Provide day-to-day support to tax associates and peers with regard to tax software and other IT tools utilized within the tax practice. (3%) Provide feedback to managers and partners on associates' performance and tax technical improvement needs. (0.2%) Participate in technical and team-building development initiatives, including associate onboarding and orientation. (0.2%) Research, develop and present content for technical tax training on a broad range of business, individual, trust, and estate tax matters including legislative updates and illustration of case studies involving specific transactions and the illustration of their tax consequences. (0.2%) Attend technical training and courses to develop a solid understanding of advanced federal, state, and international tax rules and regulations. (5%) Use a variety of tools and methods, including Microsoft Office Suite, Teams, CaseWare, CCH Axcess, Gosystem RX, OneSource Income Tax, and RIA Checkpoint. (5%).

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's or foreign equivalent degree in Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field, and 2 years of experience in the job offered or as a Tax Accountant, Tax Associate, or in a related/similar position. Experience therein to include 2 years of experience in the following: federal and state income tax return preparation using general accounting concepts, tax code and regulations; corporate tax return preparation; conducting tax research; and using Microsoft Office Suite. Hybrid role, ability to work from home.

RATE OF PAY: $98,000 to $131,410 per year.
