IntroductionOverview
The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for overseeing U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance while ensuring accurate and timely quarterly and annual tax provisions. This role partners with external advisors to coordinate provision activities and supports the preparation and review of federal, state, and local filings. Within a global logistics and transportation company, the position also manages international tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, supporting tax considerations tied to cross-border operations, supply chain movements, and global entity structures. Operating in a complex, multinational environment, the Senior Tax Accountant leads tax-related projects, drives process improvements, and ensures adherence to evolving global tax regulations. The role also mentors junior staff and serves as a strategic advisor, providing insights on tax impacts, risk management, and regulatory changes. Additionally, the position contributes to special projects related to global expansion, restructuring, and operational optimization across a diverse international footprint.
Responsibilities
- U.S. & Multi-State Tax Compliance:Assist in the preparation and review federal and state income tax workpapers and filings to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Tax Provision & External Coordination:Coordinate with external advisors on quarterly and annual tax provision processes and related reporting requirements.
- International Tax & Cross-Border Support:Assist with international tax compliance, reporting, and cross-border matters for a global, multi-entity structure.
- Tax Accounting & Reporting:Prepare tax account reconciliations, journal entries, and supporting schedules for financial reporting.
- Audits, Risk & Issue Resolution:Support tax audits and notices, identify and track tax risks, and partner with accounting teams to resolve issues and other miscellaneous tax matters as necessary including tax research and prepare technical memos and supporting documentation and process improvement initiatives, including automation, standardization, and enhancement of internal tax controls as needed
- Process Improvement & Tax Operations:Maintain tax calendars and documentation, perform tax research, and support process improvements, automation, and internal controls.

- The wage range for this position is $82,730.00-$124,090.00 and may vary based on geography as well as relative knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience
Qualifications
Education• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, (required) • Master's Degree in Accounting, finance, taxation a plus (preferred) Experience• 2+ years working in an accounting or tax department for a mid to large size company or public accounting firm. (required) • 3+ years (preferred) Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities• KSAs (Please delete the examples below) High• Self-motivated and a critical thinker. High• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications particularly Excel. High• Researching technical tax accounting topics Medium• Experience working with auditors. High• A strong understanding of international tax. Medium• CargoWise or OneStream experience a plus. LowLicenses and Certifications• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - (preferred)
