This role ensures all program requirements are fully captured, properly traced, verified, documented, and repeatably tested. The ideal candidate has deep experience with requirements management tools (DOORS and/or Jama), maintains rigorous RTVM discipline, and is highly proficient in planning, writing, executing, and maintaining verification activities and test procedures. The ideal candidate may also take an active role in developing test software to support verification. Experience with military or DoD communication systems and qualification standards is highly desirable.
This position is central to ensuring engineering teams stay aligned with requirements, testers maintain consistent coverage, and the delivered system meets all contractual, technical, and regulatory commitments.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Manage requirements in DOORS or Jama, including structure, decomposition, trace links, change control, baselines, and review workflows.
- Interpret customer requirements and provide actionable feedback to ensure clarity, consistency, and testability.
- Own and maintain the RTVM with full bidirectional traceability from requirements through verification.
- Ensure complete requirements coverage across development and test teams; proactively identify gaps or misalignments.
- Develop, write, review, and maintain test procedures, verification plans, and qualification strategies to ensure repeatable, AS9100-compliant testing.
- Coordinate verification and validation across software, hardware, systems, and test engineering.
- Work closely with developers and testers to ensure implementation aligns with requirements and test results are complete and repeatable.
- Lead verification readiness activities and formal events such as TRR and PRR/FDR.
- Maintain system-level verification artifacts including test plans, verification matrices, integration flows, and compliance checklists.
- Drive configuration control for requirements, verification artifacts, and test procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and strengthen systems/test engineering processes across the organization.
REQUIRED SKILLS- Expertise with requirements management and traceability tools, preferably DOORS or Jama, including creation of reusable templates, schemas, baselines, and complex traces.
- Ability to translate high-level customer requirements into detailed, verifiable requirement statements and associated test methods.
- Strong proficiency in full-lifecycle systems engineering for embedded communication systems, with the ability to operate effectively in a fixed-price, schedule-driven environment while supporting Agile development practices.
- Demonstrated ownership of RTVM management in prior roles, ideally on DoD or complex embedded system programs.
- Experience writing clear, repeatable, AS9100-compliant test procedures for embedded hardware/software systems.
- Hands-on experience defining, refining, and maintaining traceable requirements baselines, performing system modeling and analysis, writing test software, and executing verification in alignment with contractual commitments.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly present technical information to customers, program leadership, and cross-functional teams.
PREFERRED SKILLS- Experience supporting Navy or other DoD development or acquisition programs.
- Knowledge of configuration management, controlled baselines, and digital engineering toolchains.
- Strong ability to write or modify test support software or automation scripts (e.g., Bash, Python, C#, Robot Framework, etc.).
- Familiarity with high-speed data busses such as Ethernet, PCIe, USB 3.x, and JESD204.
- Familiarity of environmental qualification standards and test methods, including MIL-STD-461 and MIL-STD-810.
QUALIFICATIONS- Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in systems engineering, test engineering, verification management, or similar role.
