Description
The Senior Systems Support, under general supervision, assists in the daily management, maintenance and operation of the Sheriff's Office information technology systems including Records Management Systems (RMS), Jail Management Systems (JMS), Mobile Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), desktop computers, in-car computers and camera systems, backend servers, and storage equipment. Work includes installation of computers and peripherals and providing support for all hardware and software related issues. Employee must exercise courtesy, tact and firmness in frequent contact with co-workers and the public. Employee must also exercise independent judgment and initiative in completing assigned tasks. Employee must have excellent oral and written communication and customer service skills.

Essential Job Functions

  • Deploys and maintains agency computer equipment and software in various locations including vehicles and remote sites.
  • Coordinates maintenance and repairs to Sheriff's Office information systems by outside vendors and contractors when needed.
  • Assists staff in learning, operating, and applying appropriate computer software and hardware.
  • Serves as point of contact for all software related issues.
  • Refers to technical and software manuals for troubleshooting purposes and identifying functionality.
  • Maintains user access to copiers for scanning and usage.
  • Maintains body-worn camera systems.
  • Maintains county-issued cell phones, SMS archiving solution, and mobile device management (MDM) software.
  • Assists in maintaining in-car camera systems.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation for all systems.
  • Assists in planning for future expansion of systems.
  • Responsible for systems support for the Sheriff's department Records Management System and maintenance of all related programs.
  • Assists in planning and implementing system and application upgrades; including administration and management of security settings and system configuration.
  • Serves as a System Administrator for the Records Management System (RMS); ensures data integrity; coordinates with vendors to resolve database problems and upgrade databases as needed.
  • Assist in RMS/JMS/Mobile CAD maintenance, security administration, training, and documentation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
Requires a high school diploma or an acceptable equivalency diploma (GED) however, a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in related field, and three (3) years of increasing responsibility and experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Licenses or Certifications:
Possession of a valid driver's license.

Additional Information
Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines including computers, typewriters, calculators, copiers, facsimile machines, radios, telephones, postage machines, etc. Must be physically able to operate a motor vehicle. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Light Work usually requires walking or standing to a significant degree however, if the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary Work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.
