Job Title: Senior System Administrator

Working Pattern: Fulltime - On-site daily (WFH every other Friday)

Working location: Indianapolis, IN

Position Summary:

Rolls-Royce is in search of a multi-faceted security professional in support of multiple USG Defense programs. The ideal candidate will assist the Information System Security Managers (ISSMs) and ultimately, the Facility Security Officer (FSO).

What you will be doing:

  • Lead Virtualization Management: Administering VMware vSphere, ESXi, vCenter to manage virtual machine lifecycles, including virtual networks and storage.
  • Lead Windows Endpoint Administration: Maintaining, patching, and updating Windows Server and virtual PC environments, in accordance with change control board documentation
  • Assist with developing system architecture for new programs and lifecycle activities including hosts, workstations, network, and storage.
  • Assist with managing and monitoring firewalls, SIEM, vulnerability scanner, and endpoint security devices and events.
  • Define Active Directory & Support Security: Define Active Directory, Group Policies (GPOs), and work with the security engineer to implement security standards like STIGs.
  • Lead and Define Performance & Monitoring: Monitoring system health, troubleshooting performance bottlenecks, and optimizing resource allocation (CPU, RAM, Network, and Storage).
  • Lead Backup & Disaster Recovery Implementation: Managing backup solutions and performing disaster recovery operations.
  • Manage Infrastructure Automation: Using PowerShell or CLI tools for scripting and automation of routine tasks to efficiently support reassessment and reauthorization efforts.
  • Windows Engineering Software: Install and troubleshoot engineering software in the Windows environment to ensure ongoing usage by end users.
  • Collaboration: Create documentation for tasks completed for ongoing workflows. Collaborate with engineers and program managers to implement security controls and address vulnerabilities.
  • Flexibility: In the case of turnover, this role may be asked to perform basic Linux system administration or ISSO duties and support security-related projects, as needed.

  • Information Assurance activities: hardware and software changes, account management, media protection, user interface, and assured file transfers.
  • Knowledge of and enforcing security policies and procedures in accordance with government regulations, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-171, DAAPM, JSIG and 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) standards.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associate's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science plus 4 year's experience in information system security OR;
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science and 2+ years in information system security OR;
  • Master's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science OR;
  • PhD degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science OR;
  • In lieu of a degree, 6 + years of experience in information system security, with at least 3 years supporting classified systems under RMF, DAAPM, and/or JSIG frameworks.
  • Professional certifications, such as Security+ or IAT Level II equivalent, in accordance with government regulation, 8140.
  • Experience implementing and managing security tools, such as SIEMs, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection platforms.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a US DoD Top Secret Security Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with WSUS for patch management.
  • Experience with STIGs, SCAP, and other baseline configuration tools.
  • Experience with incident response, investigation, and resolution.
  • Familiarity with classified processing environments, including air-gapped and cross-domain solutions.
  • Strong technical understanding of encryption, secure network architecture, and system hardening techniques.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences, including non-technical stakeholders.
