Job Description:

Job summary:

The Maintenance Supervisor coordinates preventive, predictive, and scheduled maintenance programs to effectively reduce emergency maintenance downtime and drive pro-active results. They have responsibility for the effective use of personnel, material and equipment in supporting Safety, Productivity, Quality, Responsiveness, and Cost (SPQRC) initiatives. They provide focus on identifying, implementing, and communicating productivity improvements throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hire, lead, and manage a dynamic team to create an inclusive and collaborative work environment.


  • Monitor, evaluate, and provide regular feedback on employee growth and implementing improvement as needed.


  • Drive employee engagement and retention initiatives to maintain a motivated workforce - positively represent corporate communications to influence outcomes that support business strategies.


  • Ensure compliance with Allison Policies and manage employee relations matters as needed.


  • Supervise skilled trades activities.


  • Responsible for root cause diagnosis of equipment malfunctions.


  • Implement safety and good housekeeping practices.


  • Provide technical support for the evolution from reactive to proactive maintenance.


  • Meets schedule and quality requirements.


  • Assure compliance with the terms of the local and national labor agreements.


  • Supervises construction and maintenance projects.


  • Physical presence in the workplace is an essential function.


  • Implements and actively supports the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.


  • Initiates contact with others outside of work group when required to solve problems.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • 3+ years' supervisory experience in manufacturing/maintenance environment.


Preferred:

  • 5+ years' supervisory experience in manufacturing/maintenance environment.


Experience:

(Knowledge and skills required to get the work done - preferred maximum of 6)

Required:

  • Minimal Supervisory experience is required.


Preferred:

  • 5+ years' supervisory experience in manufacturing/maintenance environment.


  • Experience supervising union employees.


  • Hands-on experience as an industrial tradesman, service mechanic/engineer or maintenance engineer. Knowledge of PC, CNC and PLC controls.
