POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE: Estimator - Senior

REPORTS TO: Estimating Manager

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

PAY RANGE: $90,000.00-$130,000.00 Annually DOE

FT / PT STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Office, Shipyard(s) & Customer Facilities

SUMMARY

Gather and analyze financial data to estimate and allocate costs for a current or proposed projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gathers details and compiles data to estimate all production costs according to specifications
  • Reviews blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to formulate cost estimates
  • Considers raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, and transportation for estimates
  • Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints
  • Reviews estimates as requested and analyzes established standards for cost reductions
  • Reviews and analyzes existing and proposed processes, staff, and materials; identifies cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Prepares reports forecasting production scenarios; makes recommendations based on findings.
  • Provides training/guidance to less experienced Estimators
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & ATTRIBUTES
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the industry
  • Knowledge of production management, logistics, and supply chain concepts and methodologies
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelors degree in a related field preferred
  • 5+ years of experience estimating in Martime industry


WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Work is mostly conducted indoors in an office or remote environment
  • Minimal exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, toxic or caustic chemicals, fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather conditions, dusty conditions, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous machinery, heights, confined spaces, precarious places, proximity to other employees.
  • Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time at a desk; must be able to view computer screen for prolonged periods of time; must be able to enter data using keyboard accurately and efficiently
  • Must be able to communicate effectively via phone or email with personnel at remote job sites
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull up to 15 pounds infrequently
  • Lifting includes from floor to waist, waist to shoulder, waist to overhead
  • May be required to climb stairs or ladders
