Senior Structural Engineer - Dams and Hydropower

McMillen, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior Structural Engineer - Dams and Hydropower with a strong technical background to help deliver exceptional service to our clients. The ideal candidate is a proven Seller-Doer and a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng) with 15+ years of experience in water resources and extensive experience analyzing and evaluating dam structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and maintain client relationships.
  • Evaluate, select and apply advanced structural design techniques, procedures and criteria.
  • Develop FEA models and perform linear and non-linear analysis, using available software. Be comfortable presenting analysis results to clients in a manner that is easy to understand.
  • Identify project opportunities, actively pursue opportunities, and prepare proposals.
  • Manage projects by establishing project deliverables, developing the project team, manage changes to project scope, establish communication plans, and monitor and control project work.
  • Collection and analysis of field data, as-built plans and engineering reports to establish existing conditions and identify critical areas for design criteria.
  • Manage the scheduling, budgeting, and coordination of all project phases.
  • Supervise the preparation of project reports, grant proposals, and other documentation for stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Structural or a related field.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng).
  • Eligibility and motivation to pursue US PE licensure is an asset.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in structural engineering, or a related field, with specific experience in dam removal or water resource management.
  • Proven experience managing multidisciplinary teams and large-scale environmental restoration projects.
  • Proficiency in environmental modeling software and engineering design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, HEC-RAS, GIS).
  • Demonstrated experience with water resource infrastructure including fishery related projects, hydropower, dams, water conveyance, storm water networks, heavy grading, water treatment, spillways, and pump stations
  • Experience with advanced FEA modeling for linear and non-linear structural analysis utilizing software including ABAQUS or ANSYS/LS DYNA
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, contractors, and the public.
  • Strong communication, technical and analytical skills
  • Travel to project sites may be required.
  • Flexible work schedule with both office and remote work options.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Ability to get along and work effectively with others.

Compensation Package:

  • Pay Range: $165,000 - $250,000 CAD; DOE
  • Benefits: McMillen provides a full Benefits Program comprising of Basic Life, AD&D, Dependent Life, Extended Health Care, to include Vision Care, Health Care Spending Account, Employer RRSP and TFSA with employer matching contribution, 11 paid holidays, generous PTO, opportunity for stock ownership, and wellness reimbursement.
