Full Job Description
IMEG, formerly JQE, is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer in Dallas, Texas. This posting includes both a Technical Path and a Project Management Path for professionals who will lead design efforts for moderate to complex projects and support the delivery of larger, high-complexity structural projects with limited support from senior staff.

Across either track, the role includes project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures, along with work within the project's monetary budget, training and mentoring support, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations. The team supports commercial work across North Texas, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

Technical Path

What You'll Do
  • Lead structural systems analysis and design efforts for moderate to complex projects and support larger, high-complexity projects with limited senior staff support.
  • Create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations to code and IMEG standards using engineering software.
  • Perform site assessments and generate analysis and technical reports.
  • Gather project requirements, communicate technical information, and build client relationships through professional communication.
  • Review structural designs, calculations, specifications, and project correspondence, and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client requirements.
  • Provide technical training and mentoring, and assist in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff.
  • Stay current on structural engineering trends, emerging technologies, and best practices, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts within IMEG.
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work and conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goals.
  • Participate in project interviews and project presentations.

Project Management Path

What You'll Do
  • Coordinate, oversee, and manage projects ranging in size and complexity.
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work, fee calculations for proposal generation, and contract reviews.
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines.
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients.
  • Create monthly billings, submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner, and update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly.
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards, and code requirements, and that design milestone deliverables, quality control processes, and construction technical support are completed in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction, including leading progress meetings and providing meeting documentation.
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested.
  • Respond to and resolve client and construction concerns, and manage change orders and approvals.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff.
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships.
  • Conduct oneself in an ethical and professional manner.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • Structural Engineer (SE) License and/or passed the Structural Engineer (SE) Exam required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry


Skills and Abilities
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups

Preferred
  • Master's Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferred


Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, walk, stand, talk, see, hear, and lift objects up to 25 pounds
  • Occasionally required to drive, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, reach with hands or arms, and grasp or pull
  • Will have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
