Senior Structural Engineer | Dallas, TX

IMEG, formerly JQ Engineering, is hiring a Senior Structural Engineer in Dallas, TX to lead design as a project manager or lead engineer on moderate to complex projects, and to deliver larger, high-complexity work with limited support from senior staff. Working closely with a team of engineers and consultants, you'll provide project direction, engineering analysis, and design and implementation oversight of structural systems in buildings and other structures.

You'll also manage project budgets, assist with training and mentoring, and collaborate with cross-functional teams on a Texas team focused on water infrastructure, heavy civil, and transportation structures, contributing to sustainable design goals including SE2050.

What You'll Do
  • Lead design efforts for the analysis of structural systems, using engineering software to create detailed designs, specifications, and calculations per code and IMEG standards
  • Perform site assessments and generate detailed analysis and technical reports
  • Interact with clients to gather requirements, communicate technical information, and build strong professional relationships
  • Provide in-process design reviews and implement IMEG quality control processes to meet IMEG, industry, and client standards
  • Provide technical training and mentoring, and assist in resolving field issues with limited support from senior staff
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, and contribute to research, development, and innovation efforts
  • Prioritize safety in all aspects of engineering work
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, and project managers, to deliver integrated solutions
  • Participate in project interviews and presentations


What You'll Bring

Required
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil, Structural, or Architectural Engineering, or equivalent, required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry
  • Advanced proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
  • Advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials, load paths, design techniques, design standards including steel, concrete, wood, masonry, and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and structures
  • Strong training, mentoring and leadership skills
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and demonstrate effective team building skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays
