Full Job Description
Position Summary

The Sr. Strategy & Performance Lead drives portfolio planning, alignment, and performance reporting across Xcel Energy's Data portfolios (Data Analytics, AI, and Architecture). This role owns and continuously improves an established strategic planning event model: a consistent, repeatable cadence that strengthens alignment, predictability, and leadership confidence in portfolio commitments. The role connects strategy and execution through delivering effective communications, and consults with portfolio leaders to develop key performance metrics and reporting on behalf of the portfolio.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Strategic Planning: Lead the strategic quarterly planning process, ensuring it continues to improve alignment and predictability across IT portfolios.
  • Reporting & Analytics: leverages business area systems and data to identify and develop key performance metrics and reporting on behalf of the portfolio to be used in conjunction with decision making for strategy development and planning.
  • Communication: Translate complexity into clarity - distill complex initiatives into clear outcomes, trade-offs, and progress for executive and governance audiences. Align portfolio communications with overall organization and company messaging and objectives.
  • Project Management: Plan, manage, coordinate or participate on cross-functional teams or projects for portfolio or organization wide initiatives. May be responsible for leading significant enterprise programs.
  • Budget Management: Provides guidance to leaders within the organization on various aspects of the budget process. Supports initiatives that result in improvements related to the budget process.
  • Mentorship: operate as a trusted advisor to portfolio, finance, and delivery leaders, driving a shared view of priorities and progress. Provide guidance, advice, feedback, oversight and support to team members, supporting a strong talent pipeline, knowledge transfer and performance sustainment.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge.
  • At least six years related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategy and with business and operational performance measures.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in communications with demonstrated ability to deliver effective and strategic messages to a variety of audiences.
  • Strong technical background in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience leveraging technology.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and collaboration skills, capable of leading teams and managing multiple deliverables and senior-level stakeholder groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet business and financial objectives.


Preferred Requirements
  • Background in data, analytics, AI, or technology portfolios.
  • Experience influencing investment and prioritization decisions in financial and governance forums.
  • Proven experience operating in complex, cross-functional team environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to connect strategy to execution across multiple programs simultaneously.
  • Track record of building or running repeatable planning / governance models (e.g., portfolio planning, PI planning, quarterly business reviews).
  • Strong executive communication - able to frame complex work as outcomes, trade-offs, and decisions for senior leadership.
  • Comfort operating at the intersection of planning, financial discussion, and governance.


Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $84,900.00 to $120,566.66 per year
