JOB SUMMARY The Strategic Planner role leads the development and execution of complex strategic initiatives that advance ERCOT's market evolution, grid operations, and overall business objectives. The incumbent is responsible for designing and maintaining multi-year strategic roadmaps, evaluating the organizational and financial feasibility of proposed improvements, and translating emerging business concepts into structured proof-of-concept or project processes. The Strategic Planner applies deep knowledge of ERCOT's regulatory environment, business strategy, and operational landscape to anticipate internal and external challenges, formulate contingency plans, and recommend actionable solutions. This position coordinates cross-departmental efforts, defines scope and deliverables for strategic programs, and plans and executes market initiatives in response to PUCT directives and ISO business development strategies. Works with management to identify and track status of strategic initiatives identified to support strategy outcomes. 3 Leads working sessions with executives to develop draft annual company goals (objective and key results goals, short-term incentive goals, long-term incentive goals) on an annual basis for approval by the ERCOT Board. Tracks status of goals to confirm final outcomes at year-end. 3 Maintains, supports, and trains others on ERCOT's Strategy and Work Management tool. Ensures the accuracy of strategy and goal data housed within the tool. Develops and delivers reports and dashboards for use by ERCOT leadership. 3 Supports preparation of Board-level strategy materials and coordinates cross-functional input for executive and Board meeting cycles. 3 Develops complex strategic roadmaps and project plans specifying goals, strategy, cross-departmental coordination, schedules, risks, and contingency plans 3 Plans, defines, and executes market initiatives in response to PUCT directives, ISO business or market development strategies, or market participant requests 3 Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and regulatory issues; recommends contingencies and solutions 3 Recommends process, product, or service improvements and evaluates their organizational and financial feasibility 3 Manages emerging concepts into proof-of-concept processes and project process 3 Applies deep understanding of ERCOT's business environment, strategy, and regulatory landscape to support ERCOT enterprise initiatives 3 Utilizes highly developed risk management expertise to consult with organizational leadership on assigned efforts EXPERIENCE 3 Requires minimum 5 years job years job related experience in excess of degree requirements 3 Prefer progressively responsible experience as a manager or project manager 3 Prefer experience in the power industry 3 Prefer experience in corporate strategy, strategic planning, performance management, or enterprise goal-setting EDUCATION 3 Bachelor's Degree : Electrical Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, MIS, Business, Public Policy or related field (Required) 3 or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required CERTIFICATION 3 PMP Project Management Professional (Preferred) The foregoing description reflects the minimum qualifications and the essential functions of the position that must be performed proficiently with or without reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities. Expected Salary Range: $102,000 - $140,000
