Full Job Description
Boston Dynamics is looking for an operational Program Manager for Field Operations & Logistics. In this role, you will direct field staffing, human infrastructure, and tactical deployment execution for our mobile humanoid robots across 50+ customer sites as we expand to fleet sizes exceeding 100 Atlas units.

Positioned within the Customer Enablement organization and working in close partnership with the Technical Program Management (TPM) team, you will act as the core operational engine managing our distributed field workforce. Your primary focus will be leading end-to-end personnel operations for Field Service Engineers (FSEs), Field Application Engineers (FAEs), and Robot Pilots/Tele-operators. This includes managing recruitment pipelines, overseeing shift schedules and site assignments, coordinating travel, and monitoring field labor expenses. Furthermore, you will steer on-site operations for high-priority roadshow deliverables to ensure seamless product demonstrations at customer locations.

Responsibilities

Operations & Site Leadership
  • Operational Oversight: Guide and equip site operations teams to execute high-impact customer deployments. Maintain accountability across site teams for daily operations, ensuring proper support, robotic assets, and resources are in place for facility setups.
  • Implementation Accountability: Deliver on site-specific deployment milestones-such as key performance metrics, facility setup, and data collection targets-across multiple concurrent locations. Serve as the main escalation lead for Site PMs to quickly resolve field issues and keep contractual deliverables on schedule.

Workforce Planning & Team Management
  • Workforce Management & Logistics: Lead daily scheduling, shift rotations (such as 8-hour shift coverage for 11-member site pods), leave management, coverage plans, and 8-week site assignment logistics across active roadshow environments.
  • Hiring & Resource Allocation: Collaborate with Talent Acquisition to evaluate candidates, run operational interviews, onboard team members, and assign Pilot, FSE, and FAE teams to customer site cohorts aligned with deployment schedules.

Cross-Functional Alignment & On-Site Support
  • Daily Standups & TPM Alignment: Facilitate frequent standup meetings with FAEs and on-site lead PMs. Consolidate daily operational metrics and sync with the Early Access Program TPM to align field staffing with core project timelines.
  • On-Ground Deployment Logistics: Manage physical travel logistics, site access permissions, badging compliance, and consumable supplies to support efficient on-site rollouts.

You Must Have
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 8 years of operational program management experience, specifically focused on scaling, scheduling, and managing distributed field service teams, technical operators, or multi-site deployment personnel.
  • A proven track record in high-volume workforce scheduling, shift management, and high-frequency personnel rotation planning across multiple geographies.
  • Hands-on experience managing project billing logic, job codes, and T&E expense aggregation in partnership with Finance or RevOps.
  • Advanced proficiency in resource management tools (e.g., Smartsheet, JIRA, Salesforce, or Field Service Management platforms).

We Value
  • Project exposure to complex robotic systems, mobile fleet deployments, or Robotics-as-a-Service (RaaS).
  • Experience specifically managing tele-operation teams, remote command centers, or 24/7 hardware monitoring hubs.
  • Project experience with unstructured robotic implementations (rather than strictly structured automation).
  • A strong track record of successful contributions to customer-facing projects.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills to resolve field conflicts, manage rotation burnout, and maintain high team morale under tight deployment schedules.
  • Experience integrating field staffing metrics into senior TPM roadmap frameworks.

Location & Travel
  • Location:This position is based out of the Boston Dynamics Waltham, MA office or Key remote hub
  • Travel:Due to the heavy deployment and operational nature of this role, up to 60-70% travel is required to continuously visit customer sites, integrate field teams, and oversee active deployments.

The base pay range for this position is between $155,000.00 to $175,000.00 annually. Base pay will depend on multiple individualized factors, including, but not limited to, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This range represents a good-faith estimate of compensation at the time of posting. Boston Dynamics offers a generous Benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), paid time off, and an annual bonus structure. Additional details regarding these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer for employment.
