Senior Staff AccountantCompany: Gary Merlino Construction Co., Inc. (GMCC)

About the RoleThe Senior Staff Accountant will play a key role in the monthly close process, financial reporting, and general ledger accounting across multiple divisions within the GMCC family of companies. This role is well-suited for someone with strong technical accounting skills who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-division construction environment. You'll get your hands in a little bit of everything, from Accounting to HR & Operations, as part of a lean, cross-functional accounting team.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and post journal entries; perform general ledger reconciliations for assigned divisions
- Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes
- Prepare and review financial statements and supporting schedules
- Assist with Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting and job cost analysis
- Reconcile intercompany transactions across GMCC's divisions
- Maintain and analyze fixed asset schedules and depreciation
- Support external audit and tax preparation requests
- Assist with sales/use tax and excise tax filings
- Identify and implement process improvements in accounting workflows
- Collaborate with project accountants, operations, and division controllers
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience; construction or job-cost industry experience strongly preferred
- Proficiency with Sage 300 CRE, or similar construction accounting/ERP systems a plus
- Strong Excel skills
- Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally
- CPA or progress toward CPA a plus, but not required
