Position Summary

The Senior Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the integrity of financial records and supporting the company's accounting operations, including general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities. This position plays a key role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with company policies and accounting standards, and supporting continuous process improvement initiatives.

The Senior Staff Accountant works closely with operations, management, and other departments to support business objectives and ensure financial accuracy. This is a full-time, onsite position requiring attendance in the office five (5) days per week to facilitate collaboration, support operational needs, and provide timely financial support to the organization.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accurate recording of financial transactions
  • Prepare and post journal entries and supporting documentation
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet account reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely resolution of issues
  • Assist with cash flow reporting
  • Support financial reporting and analysis by preparing schedules, reports, and supporting documentation as needed
  • Maintain accounting records within the company's ERP/accounting system (Visual and OneStream)
  • Assist with external audits and other compliance-related activities
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies
  • Provide cross-functional support and serve as a backup for other accounting functions as needed
  • Train and assist team members on accounting procedures, systems, and best practices


Other Important Responsibilities

  • Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to record, maintain, and analyze financial information
  • Review financial transactions, supporting documentation, and account coding for accuracy and completeness
  • Classify, record, and summarize financial data in accordance with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Prepare, reconcile, and maintain accounting spreadsheets, databases, and schedules
  • Research and resolve accounting discrepancies, and reporting issues
  • Assist in preparing financial, statistical, accounting, and operational reports
  • Support internal control initiatives and documentation requirements
  • Participate in process improvement and special projects as assigned
  • Contribute to the organization's Environmental Management System (EMS) by adhering to established environmental, recycling, waste management, and sustainability practices
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA designation or CPA candidate preferred
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Manufacturing accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Experience supporting month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting required
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial analysis
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accounting software applications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
